I WAS thinking of something like that, but I think I’m going to go for the blackened bronze look. A lot of the detail back then was cast. I sure wish I had color pictures, but even the 2nd picture I have doesn’t show any patina.
Nice house ya got there Bob…

That must be his country villa. I’ve been to Bob’s house, and it’s nicer

No Jon you have it backwards. You’ve been to his ‘Show to the Masses’ residence, the above is the one he bought with the income from the website.
If I was to buy a house on the income from the website, it’d look like this

LOL Bob
Bob??? Nice fixer-upper…
Sweet!
Really different.
Bruce, nice work! It just keeps getting better!
The entire facade of the original building was probably made of stamped metal. Back then you could buy whole storefronts from a catalog, or buy the various pieces and put them together any way you wanted.
Bob, your “fixer upper” would make a really cool model!
There’s a LOT more to add before I can think about painting this. Right now I’m debating smoothing out the edges on the tip of the turret. Not sure I like the step look.
Bruce that looks great.
Started testing out some of the parts for the panels. Got some rhinestones from Michaels, some 5/16" letters from Plastruct and some half round on a styrene sheet. I then primed it because I wanted to see how the stones would look. Not bad.
Bruce, you have outdone yourself this time. That is one sweet structure, just the kind I fantacize about modeling–until reality sets in.
Question though: why are you up-scaling to 1:20.3? I have a toe in the water (my station) but everything else is in 1:22.5 'cause it’s smaller and because I have a better scale ruler for 1:22.5.
Joe,
The stuff I scratch is all 1:20. The only smaller stuff I have is some old Pola kits built way back when.
That turret turned out pretty darned good. It just needs a rooster weathervane on top…
I was waitin for that!!..I like it just the way it is Bruce!!!
No weather vane…I’m just keeping the acrylic ball on top.
