What’s the blocks made from?

Ah, that’s some Precision Products concrete block. I’m hoping it will look more like stone when I’m done.

Do you use the WeldOn 16 for the pvc-to-pvc joints as well? How does it compare to the pvc glues?

I’ve never used the PVC glues. :frowning: I use the Weld-On 16 for all of the pvc-to-pvc bonds. I’ve got some styrene glue that I really like (Tamiya), but it doesn’t do a very good job of styrene to pvc. That’s where the liquid acrylic cement really excels.

I do have a micro-tip for the Weld-On 16 that is useful when I want a tiny bead of the stuff.

A bazillion strips of styrene down, another bazillion to go…

Ah, your retired, what else ya gotta do?..

I like the color. It appears to be about the same color I painted my building.

And it’s lookin good!

I like the brown stone look. Nice!

You stated a bazillion strips of styrene …is the cornice molding built up with individual strips?

No color yet. That’s just the lighting. It will be browner.

Yep, it’s all built up from individual strips. More to come…

I think the take-away from this is brown is the correct color!

I sure hope so. Went over to Home Depot today and bought some samples. All in the brown family.

Where do you get that Weld-On 16? The local Home Depot and Ace don’t have it.

Ray, I get the Weld-On 16 from Tap Plastics. I’ve never seen it available locally. Make sure you get some of the micro tips as well. I think this is about as far as I’m going to get this year. Still need to do some more strips on the top of the turret and around the roof.

All the stepout work is looking great. Really sets the style. Is that half round beading at the windows ?

The only half round stuff (so far) are the vertical pieces between the windows. All the rest is some sort of strip that’s .040" thick.

Thank you Bruce. I was looking at the horizontal detail around the windows

Thanks Bruce. I may be able to get some from our local plastics dealer.

Your store is really turning out nice!

Looking great so far Bruce.

I picked up some Weldon 16 from TAP a year or so ago for the acrylic car kits that I have yet to build. I tried it yesterday for PVC to Styrene and Styrene to Styrene joints and it worked great.

I had been using PVC Pipe Cement on my PVC projects. It works OK bonding PVC to PVC and PVC to Styrene but it’s difficult to use on small parts.

One sweet building!

Thanks, guys. I started playing around with the turret roof. A few bits of styrene tubing as well as some brass tubing. An acrylic ball, and the top of an Annie stack… The top is not glued in place yet.

I couldn’t resist placing it on top of the turret to see how it would look.

Next up, I have to work on the panels along the top.
