they simply can’t, Eric.
to become an expat one has to be under 30 and single.
to stay a (content) expat one has to become part of a local family. as you and i did.
so it is too late for that - for most of our forum friends.

the almost hits me right between the eyes once every year.
… when sitting in a pool at 100°F. strawhat, cold drink and singing “jingle bells”.

If I had been smart in the 80’s and bought that Microsoft and Apple stock instead of Tandy, I might have been able to afford it. We’re hoping to move a few hundred miles West, but the area still gets plenty of winter weather. Maybe we’ll be lucky and able to do extended camping trips to GA and FL to escape some of it.

NIce pics Jon. This one is my favorite.

Sorry (not sorry) to say we have a week of 70 - 80 deg coming up, occasional light showers to keep the grass growing…

Cheers

Thanks Niel. It was worth freezing my ears. I have a lot of good ones, but I agree this is one of the best. I’m really happy with the depth of field my phone camera gets. You can zoom even these resolution reduced pretty tight. The snow hides a lot and really adds to the realism. Good thing the platform occupants and the foamer bring you back to reality.

Jon,

I guess we must be balancing your weather out here for our Meteorological Summer.

Your photos caught Herself’s eye when they popped up on her face book.

As Neil said, it’s a perfect photo. Herself said she was going suggest taking a trip there until she saw the duck on the platform and figured out it was a garden railway.

well , dang , my yard crew is going to have to answer this, putting empty flatcars near the head end of a long train

That’s OK. Norfolk Southern does it quite regularly.

“That’s OK. Norfolk Southern does it quite regularly.”

Yeah, it’s because the MBAs they like to hire don’t know diddily about railroad operations or the effects of mass on train dynamics.

Just sayin’, David Meashey

Prototypical There seems to be a lot of that lately

I think I’ve found a subtle prototype for the blower, Jon.

Had the clubs
Open house tour this weekend , had about 50 people over the 2 nights. It was a little bit of a challenge, OPERATING 2 trains on one track while the opposing train ran on the inside lane. Had no issues on Saturday, but tonight’s I had 2 big issues. But that happens during OPERATIONS, get to talking to someone explaining things and lose sit rep. Last one of the night outside train had a derailment and inside train hit boxcar and made more mess.! No pictures released from on scene photographers IMG_4400|666x500

the house is a close replica of the house I grew up in, and the Charger is also close to the dark green Charger that was my first car. Wish I still had that car !

Looking good Pete, Everybody probably had a good time.

Nice to see the overhead of the entire layout Pete. It’s all looking good :sunglasses:

I keep saying Im going to get on the roof and take a good overhead shot, but so far nothing has happened

Been there done that Pete.

If you have been on Pete,s roof share the pictures with him and save him the trouble of doing it him self.

Still have not drug the ladder out to do this … yet!

Just a little inspiration.
