2019 Mik's Build Challenge

So … I gave it some thought… If I can post a drawing of a project will you guys still let me join in on the fun?..

Get your butt in here Travis. Hell, I started my log by telling everyone what my project is, but all I’ve accomplished so far is I’ve spent most of the weekend trying to clean up enough workspace to get anything done. I never even got a chance to do a drawing yet.

Well Travis, you will be ahead of me, I am away from home this weekend and can’t start at all! Get going!!

Yeah, I’m way late…and I have a pile of other obligations eating into my time.

Still. last year, I ‘made it to the next level’ with my layout (19 inches above the bottom level). I got a long sprawled out switching puzzle there that needs some businesses. Space available is 2 inches deep (max), 10 inches high (max), and maybe ten or twelve feet long, depending on how ambitious I get. Be a long set of facades. I believe I got enough leftovers from prior facades to do this…

Might be worth a shot…

Come on Tim jump in, the water is only sort of freeziing

Vic, these parts, the water done froze…months ago…

Still, I should have some time over the next several days…and there is this pile of parts and scraps and whatnot that is getting difficult to ignore for some reason…

Tim… Welcome to the madness… Your in… start a build log, and we will follow you thru to the end.

I want to thank the participants of this year’s challenge; all of you, the ones modeling and those looking in. There have been some great advice and suggestions being presented. I am learning a great deal that will enhance my arsenal of modeling weapons. Best of all they are in my budget.

Glad you went with a wide open them Dave

You think that’s bad, howabout me, I have to chose a best!(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)

Oh my. I might make it.

Yikes 7 days left ! Where did the time go?

Final 2 days to go.

Time to start sweating. Start worrying over the little bits.

Remember: Midnight Sunday Deadline, or Sun up Monday if you have to put in an all nighter to get it done.

Dave,

I don’t know if we should thank you or scorn you. This years wise open theme allowed for some radically different projects and everyone stepped up to the plate. Like buildings, we got them. Like rolling stoke, we got some. Like whimsical blimps, got one. Like the worlds largest doodle bugger, have one of them too. And everyone did such an awesome job. Picking favorites is going to be wicked tough.

Final 12 hours

Just enough time to stick a fork in it....

Dang it, I wanted to take my final pictures outside today but it’s raining here, likely all day.

Finally stopped raining…and it’s pitch dark.

Well, I’m done … at least for the Challenge. I still need to do some weathering and I forgot to add the smoke stack to the roof. Its ready to go on but it’s just gonna have to wait. Its been fun as usual and the builds this year were beyond good. I’m not looking forward to having to choose the best. Dave, many thanks for carrying on Mik’s Challenge each year, it brings a lot of joy to our hobby.
