Large Scale Central

YOUR VOTE MAY COUNT: Which is the MOST logical outcome?

For those with interest, from your understanding of the thousands of words written on this all-consuming large scale financial mystery, which is the singular MOST logical outcome:

Make a choice from these options:

  1. LGB of America will cease to exist.

  2. Marklin will use LGB of America.

  3. Marklin will recover financially from LGB of America for products sold and stored by LGB of America.

  4. Marklin will allow LGB of America to exist as LGB of America pleases.

  5. OTHER___________________________________.

Please, one entry without a rebuttal response.

Now, those of interest, can await determination as to who made the correct judgment.

Wendell

VOTE #2: My estimate is Marklin will “use” LGB of America in a supportive position (e.g. marketing or distribution) instead of shutting them down. Marklin may trade-off what is likely “owed” to them in merchandise IF determined that LGB of America, was in fact, NOT a separately owned company but a subsidiary of LGB of Germany.

That’s my take.

Wendell

#5 OTHER: Märklin will eventually buy out whatever assets LGBoA actually has which pertain to the LGB line. Reasons: to follow!

Please add my points:

#6: Who cares?

#7: So what?

Happy RRing,

Jerry Bowers

Jerry-
Good points!
Your participation is better than ?
W.

I’ll go with #6.

#6 and #7 are true “Other” replies.

My answer is #4
And it is all ready underway now .
Marklin-LGB is already shipping to US dealers and taking orders for product .
And LGBoA is NOT involved in this !

That is the first I have heard of that...where did you here that? Email me if you want...

I say the facts support #2 but my vote goes with #6.

The Amazing Criswell predicts, his own personal opinion of course!

As in LGBoA will be force by threat of legal action to change its name to G45 and will starve out LGBoA by not importing anything directly to the US. (speculated this for a while now)

G45 will have to downsize and may continue in a smaller form by importing its other brands.

Marklin/LGB will use its existing infrastructure to import LGB to the US but will still offer items at the old LGB highmark prices, which will continue to stifle marketplace expansion in the US.

Also in the crystal ball, Marklin will continue its fine tradition of being Eurocentric, IOWs dont count on anything new is US profile for a very very long time, just MHO.

Alot of people are happy with Marklin taking over, I’m still unconvinced, I await to see how, and with what, and for how much pricewise, they reenter the American marketplace .

Remember theres already a shipfull of LSers out there that have NO LGB or Marklin and are quite happy without it, and if it takes then 2 or 3 years to reenter, Marklin had darnwell better to some research into what the US LSer wants. EPL was just beginning to “get it” with the lower price Forney and the Gennie, if they reintroduce the Forney at the older $700 pricetag - forget it, they will price themselves right into the beautique modeler shelf .

Personally I think Bachmann should do a cout-de-tah (sic) and produce a LS version of its On30 Forney, now and while LGB is out of the picture and claim that market share before Marklin can reintroduce the LGB Forney,

My vote may count ?!? That sounds like the Supreme Court talking…

This is quite possibly the silliest thread re: LGB yet. In what possible way could our “votes” “count”?? Speculation based on known, but incomplete, facts; is still speculation. The case will only be settled when all facts are known.

BTW, I like Rod’s post on this subject. LOL!

I’m with Rod…or if I must, it’s #6, or #7 for me…

Our votes don’t make any difference; except by stating we don’t give a durn; we will send any of LGB’ers off looking for another home, as if we ever had them living around here anyhow !!!

Count?
Counts only in memory per the person who accurately predicts the outcome.
Something to do for those who are following the LGB saga.
Anything else in large scale that has any news value?
Or high-jack the thread into a personality labeling fest.

#8, it’s the most logical answer, or #0: don’t even go there?

#5 OTHER… Don’t Care…

On the other hand, I really need to find some Sam Adams Oktoberfest. Seems no where local stocks it and I’ll have to search afield. Sigh the joys of rural living.

Those who respect LGB as a manufacturer of quality items will in fact care about the future, however it pans out. Those who have shown a ‘who cares’ attitude are self professed non-users of the product. We all make personal decisions as to which manufacturer suits our needs in the hobby. For some Lehmann have fulfilled their hobby dreams. I, for one, care as to a positive outcome in this saga. My heart is with LGBoA carrying on their ‘custodial’ role as a servicing agent, but reality and Germanic stoic will see the company having no further involvement with the marque. LGBoA had the goose that lays the golden eggs and let it slip through their grasp. Marklin will take no prisoners and this will leave LGBoA ‘out to dry’.

Well as long as we are ALL entitled to an opinion I would go with

  1. Märklin will retain LGBoA as thier distribution and service center and at some point in the future close the Wisconsin operation and merge distribution of all of thier product in North America through LGBoA.
