Today I cut in the new #8 switch from Sunset Valley on the far end of the Burke yard runaround, and connects to the SS inside track of the yard. This switch has the SV switch throw on it as well.
I am now out of rail and need to order some more.

Bob,
Since you run ops at your RR with guests, how do you feel about the manual throws such as this? I love the look of them, but they seem more prone to accidents, if someone isn’t paying enough attention. I’m considering them (or something similar) for my Big Green modules with the NH club.
If the throw is sturdy I’ve had no issues (like the Bachman one). I did have a bunch of “works like the real thing” switch throws, where you have to raise the lever, turn, and put the lever back down. Every one of them was broken at an ops session when people would just grab them and twist.
Some work on the big bridge, too. Moved the second arch bridge from where its behind everything and hidden, over to the side here. Cast concrete pier holds the front end up. I’ll (probably) be skinning the concrete with stucco and carve in blocks.
And an overall view of the loop, with the ‘new’ bridge on the right. Curve needs a bit of realignment but not too bad. The metal piers will get moved closer together, and I’ll be adding girders between them.
Re-aligned the metal piers and trimmed the spline that makes up the support of the bridge. They’re a bit more than half the distance apart that they were. Looks much less spindly.
I love it …wanna rework the lower end of my layout kind the same with the steel (look) piers. Just love the look of 1:1 steel deck girders on steel (spindly) piers and the ladder system makes it kinda simple.
Do you still have that one box steel pier someone made ?
Yep. It’s still doing its duty, currently supporting the temporary bridge where the second steel arch was.
Last one today. Too hot and humid to do more. The rest involve digging out a bunch of rocks and hauling some fill.
Those will give a great look in the area
Take care with the heat. You know, you’re not as young as you used to be.
Nope, They are out of level …get back out there and get it right!
