Looking great. What will the tipple be holding?
Thanks, Bill. Gold, the tipple will be for gold ore.
Got out the tin roller and made up enough corrugated tin for the bin shed.
Got all the tin installed on the front but ran out of glue on the back. I thought I had another tube around somewhere, and still do, but I cannot find it. Oh, well, we got close to finishing. No worries, we had fun. I’ll post some photos of the ore bin later once the glue dries on the tin.
That’s a pretty nifty corrugator!
Gold ore??? Shows the greed of people in Alabama. Here in N Idaho we are content with silver. Cheaper but far more useful. Alamabama seems to have gold and bourbon envy. Imagine living next to Kentucky (home of bourbon) and Tennessee (home of sour mash) and trying hard to make your mark. But of course I can’t say much. I’m from Idaho. . .home of the potato. . .Russians had that solved long before Idaho was a dream.
Dan, I won’t reiterate my love for this build in comparison to Cliff. I respect that. But I have a sneaking impression Cliff would approve.
The most important question is when do I get .stl files. Now that I have a filament printer.
Thanks, Bill. Nice thing about it, I can replace the rollers with a different profile if I choose.
Devon, my Dad’s farm, which is 3 miles from my house, is in an area called Gold Hill. History says there was a few pockets of gold found in that area back in the early 19th century.
Well, I did use his chute mechanism design as inspiration. I’ll get it printed once I get my new resin tray.
Just let me know which ones you want and I’ll get them pointed in your direction.
Whatever one keeps me from using my fiskers
Dan, what an awesome build!!
I’m looking forward to seeing your chute prints, your design looks wonderful.
Best wishes in the contest!
Thanks, Cliff. I stole … eh um … used yours as inspiration I’m planning to use chains to open and close the chute doors. Like a roll-up door but just sliding up and down. Will use a weighted chain to lift the chute itself.
Did someone say Bourbon?
looks fantastic. Will be nice when you do finally complete it.
Thanks, Devon. Looking forward to adding all the chute details and some weathering.
Gorgeous ore bin Dan. Seems done enough for the contest! But with further details later, cool.
That’s a lotta gold ore! I wanna buy stock in that mine!!
What I can’t wait to see is how you get the ore cars to that upper track
Thanks, Cliff. I would call it done, except for the missing roof on the back
Me too, Vic
You claim it to be unfinished, but if you hadn’t said so I wouldn’t have noticed anything unfinished! Great building.
That is a great looking ore bin. The style and choice of colours is sharp.
I thought my grain/cranberry tower was tall at 28" but you got me beat by 8 inches. You just might have won the award for the tallest Mik build ever.
No, I am looking for that title. Tallest Mik, my oil derrick is just under 42" tall.
