And Bob does a bang up job of curtailing threads that ‘get out of hand’ so to speak. Remember we are just a bunch of train geeks sitting around Bob’s living room or sundeck.
Recall that it wasn’t the content that got the Off Topic forum closed. It was the traffic. Too large a percentage of posts were in the Off Topic Forum and Bob is running a train forum. That was the reason he gave for closing it. This post is evidence that if it re-opened it would once again draw all the traffic.
So; lets go talks about trains. I ran some 1:29 stuff today for only the second time this year.

The esteemed Mr Radder is correct. The Off Topic forum almost doubled traffic on the site. Plus, that’s where most of the whining, attacks, and general bad boy behaviour happened. I spent an inordinate amount of time policing threads I didn’t give a flying fig about reading.
That being said, I have an option. IF I were to bring back the OT forum, it would have certain iron clad rules. Any non-train content (with the exception of off-color, religious, political, sexual, etc content) would be allowed. I will NOT actively read ANY thread in the forum. Nor will it show up on the “Active Topics” pages. Anyone posting content violating the no religion/politics/sexual content rules would be immediately banned from the site, no appeal. Anyone that whines to me about a thread they dont like, or about something someone said in a thread would get publicly ridiculed. And I’ll probably run more ads on the pages, in a more visible location, than I do for the rest of the site.
Discuss.
Hopefully this would be located at the bottom of the main forum page.

I have no problem with the site as is…
If I don’t want to read it, I do as Ken does, and click ““Mark as read””…
There are times when people just need to take responsibility of their own action, and quit trying to get other folks to ““do it their way””…
It’s always I want it this way and everyone else has to do it my way…

I agree with Ken, Bruce and especially dad.
Since Bob is speaking “flying figs” it was only a couple of years ago that quite a few of these folks didn’t give a flying fig about BOB’s Site when MLS, LYSOL and the other forums were in there glory.
The site is fine as is, a certain somebody wants it pared down to fit his phone. That’s all.
