Working Water Tank Build

Dave Taylor said:
I'm now wondering if it's a little large! I don't want it to overpower the tank. I Guess I'll find out Sunday when I put it on..

Looks about right…excellent work Dave

Super job.
I knew the tank was large, but the photo with you both standing next to it really put it into perspective

Installed the finial. The meet at Andys place got kinda rained out. But I did get the finial installed. It looks good, and fits the natural wood look.

And another view.

That perty much wraps thing up. Because of the rain We didn’t get a chance to fire up the Shay. In the Middle of Aug. Andy hosts a “Steam Up” He typically has 6-7 steamers running then and I’m sure that I’ll get that thirsty beast getting a drink pic then. Somewhere I have a pic of a triple header of three truck Shays on his pike. I’ll have to try and dig that up. Dave

This is very impressive, I have enjoyed reading the process, should provide many years of service.

Beautiful!!

Ah! The finishing touch. Great job Dave

Andys Steam UP is this weekend, I’ll be up there tomorrow, Thirsty Shay’s drinking from the tank. Pics to follow.

Thanks for the pics Dave. Looks like that working water tank filled the bill nicely. I’ll bet it was a joy to watch it being used for the first time

Thank you for these very nice pictures. I am glad the" working water tank" really does work.

The authentic weathering on those real live steamers is also inspiring for our model builds and paint jobs.

Thanks again for all the great posts. This has been a very interesting story.
