There was talk awhile back about a group taking the Coast Starlight up, Anyone still up for that?

I have a ticket for the Coast Starlight to travel, but I am unaware of any group.

Would you please post pics of the train for me Ted when you get a chance …Thank you and appreciate it !! Enjoy the show and the ride!

If someone at the show attends the get-together, and has a lap top; he/she could drop into the LSC Chat room, and let chatters hear what is happening real time, and chat with a few of the attendees…

JUST, PLEASE; let the chat room regulars know that you guys will be “On Line” so we can be sure to be here for you.

Not everyone can attend the show/convention…especially those of us in the East…

Not a chance with me! I read the chat group, and the many times my name is “foully” mentioned… not a welcome place at all…

This truth you speak of is quite far from reality! LSC chat has always been a welcoming place while folks destroyed / argued on other toy train sites that no longer exist (wonder why)!

I’ve seen your posts on chat complaining about me Rooster, you are full of #$@#@

I don’t think the group ever materialized. I am taking the Coast Starlight up from Martinez but changed my travel date to this coming Friday for family reasons. Turns out I will be meeting a new granddaughter, a wee little one born at 28 weeks on August 3. She’s doing great, is just now up to 3 pounds, but will still be in the hospital. Not to worry, though, as I will have plenty of pictures to share.

Hi Rooster,

It looks like Gregory Hile is going to Portland before me, and as he stated: “…Not to worry, though, as I will have plenty of pictures to share”.

Also, it will be night time for much of train ride going north from where I am. Going south when leaving from Portland, Ore, I think better to get pictures of train itself.

BTW, your AMTRAK “G” scale trains do look great. You do excellent modeling work.

-Ted

As far as pictures, I was actually referring to my granddaughter, but, yeah, I guess I could take some of the train, too. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Ted’s also right about night-time travel. I am scheduled to depart from Martinez at 10:50 pm.

For folks traveling South after the NGRC, do stop by Medford Garden Railroaders on Sep 1, 12-5. Well worth seeing, IMHO!

Will any of the Medford group be open on Aug 30? I may be heading back to the Bay Area on that day.

I plan to be open Sat , Sun . Mon 8 to 5 . A farmers fantasy is listed in the convention guide .I will be traveling early Friday and hope to be home around 1 .Call first . Earl

Does anyone know if they will be around Friday or Sat after the convention? Or if there will be a public show that last Saturday? I couldn’t make the convention as I will be stuck in back to school meetings Mon-Friday, but might be willing to drive down for the day on Saturday if there is a public show and if LCS folks are still around.

Craig,

According to the schedule, the vender Hall is open Saturday 9am to 4pm. But, it doesn’t mention if it is open to the Public. We will be there through Saturday night so as to visit layouts on Saturday. You might check the convention website for more info or someone to contact.

Paul,

I saw that schedule as well. Maybe once the convention starts someone can ask about Saturday. I would hate to drive down and find out that it isn’t open to the public.

Traffic probably will be crazy on I5 anyway that weekend, so other then saving some hobby money I don’t think I will, miss much of I don’t come down.

Craig

PS- If anyone on the list is visting Paul’s layout on Monday in Gig Harbor and want to meet up with me, I should be free after 1430. I’m only 20 minutes or so from Paul’s. PM, email (Craig.townsend175at gmail.com) if you want to try and meet.

In the Convention Book it says the Vendor Hall will be open to the public on Saturday 9-4.

I don’t see where anything is “open to the public”, you pay to attend… a quick email to the convention people should settle that question.

Gerg

Page 92 of the convention book says under Daily Events for Saturday August 31. " VENDOR HALL: The Vendor Hall opens at 9am and will remain open until 4pm. This is the only day the Vendor Hall is open to the public."

Now just because it is open to the public doesn’t necessarily mean that entrance is free.

Anyone hanging around on Saturday?

For anyone going to be at the National Garden Railway Convention next week be sure to take a lot of pictures for those of us who are not able to attend. I was going to take my portable layout for display but the distance and logistics were too much, so I’ll be an armchair visitor looking at other people’s pictures.

Several of us from Sacramento are at the convention. I did a quick live video on Facebook after checking in and will try to keep the updates coming. (Follow our page for more of these https://www.facebook.com/SacValleyGRS/ )

I’ll be taking tons of photos at the layout tours starting this morning. I haven’t decided where to post them but perhaps a video slideshow on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCczWIDygPchE-FtBbWSRpHg

For anyone not here, let me know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see.

Our pre-convention open house yesterday was a great success. We had about 50 people from all over the country plus one visitor from Scotland and one who splits time between Colorado and Thailand. Off to the convention tomorrow.

We are out the door in a few minutes, will hit the convention hotel tomorrow mid morning.

Hi Ben!

Yes! Please take pictures of the USA Trains booth, especially if they’re showing off new or upcoming products; diesels, heavyweight passenger, or reefer/box cars. And as far as the tours, the more diesels the better! A Western Pacific Zephyr or Southern Pacific anything would be nice!

Thanks!
