What to do on a rainy day

Ok so its raining here all day. Put the stop to working on the railroad but I still got to do some work on train stuff. A quick trip to the HD and got two shelves and some trim board so I can have storage upstairs for my trains and don’t have to keep running up and down to the basement everytime I wont to run the trians. Here is a picture of the shelves and the trim board going down. Its cheeper then using track. I read it on here some were and thoguht it a good ideal.

I put a peice on the ends to keep the cars from rolling off.

Here it is all done and with the cars and locos on it.

and here is the basement work shop

and lastly I unbacked my new loco from Barry (BBT)

So why I did not get to do stuff outside I did get some work done with the trains. Hope your all having a great day. Geoff

Geoff, It ain’t rained here…

2" of rain from last night to now. 7:00 pm

Rained here most of the day. Raining now.
Had company for a BBQ and pool party.
Stopped raining from 2:00pm-4:30pm.
Just long enough to cook, eat and swim a bit.

Don’t see the G.N. Mallet anywhere on those shelves??? LOL The Regal

Would really enhance the look of the shelves and your track outside!!! Hee hee

you haven’t mailed it to me yet.

My mallet is thired pic, second shelf left side, right under my UP 2-4-0.

I like that Consolidated Annie!
I might have to do one of mine.

Nice! Love the 2-8-0! Shelving looks good–better than my method of stacking worthless Bachmann cars atop one another…

Is there any time in specific that you’re typically out running trains? My grandfather lives a mile from your place and I’d love to have an excuse to come over and see your railroad in action–only seen it so far with the Christmas light display.

Geoff,

I think I forgot to point out that the siderods on the 2-8-0 are the usual magnesium bronze, but I burnished them so they would match the high luster of the rest of the valve gear. I think this is one of the prettiest 2-8-0 locos I’ve done. I’m glad it has a good home.

I love it and I might even get to running it sometime. that is if it ever stops raining and I get done with major work on the railroad. Right now I am to affaid to take it outside. Its to nice a looking loco to risk messing it up.

Geoff

from what I’ve heard, you can take all of that from the basement and tag it behind your new 2-8-0 and it’ll never break a sweat!

that is one fine looking loco!
nice shelves too!

Nice shelving !

How about what to do AFTER the rainy day???

In my case it’s order up about 4 yards of top soil and a couple of tons of gravel to repair the erosion caused in a half hour by over 2 inches of rain on Sunday. At least the micro-burst, large hail and small tornadoes missed us by 40 miles or more.

That’s the price of living at the downhill end of a cul-de-sac on land that sharply slopes away from the road. I’m wondering if my home moaner’s insurance will cover the repair. It sure is nice when the sun is shining though

I sure hope you have those shelves anchored to the walls.

That is what I have been told and what I have seen. I can’t wait to run her but everything has to be perfect first. To nice a loco to mess it up in the rain and such. I will let everyone know how it works when I do run her.

Jon

Some one once told me the diff between HO and G people is that a HO person will spent for ever trying to get the perfect wash out and a G person will spent for ever fixing them.

Hope all truns out well for you.

Trust me if anything happens to make them fall over the last thing on my mind is going to be the trains. My house will fall down before they fall over. But thanks for being worried. Geoff

Oh, okay, so you don’t have any grandchildren yet? JK

I don't even have a wife or kids yet. that is unless you count my two dogs and they know better then to mess with the trains.

That is why you've got all those trains!
