I noticed that your from Toronto. I'm in Buffalo, NY. If you happen to be south of the border, send me an email and you can check out the tank in person. -Kevin.
Wow…both you and Kevin are close enough to come to the Invasion in July! Any plans to attend?
Wife is planning a family reunion either in Kingston NY or W. Masacheussetts (sp?) and the date not certain, but very close to the invasion.
You have a long way to come. I plan to attend if the dates don’t conflict, Bruce, and I look forward to meeting you & your fellow Yanqui invaders. In the cornfield ?

I know how that goes John - I missed it last year due to my daughter’s wedding. Hope we can meet this July!
David Russell said:You are right David this has been a great thread. I knew there were plenty of talented folk out there that wouldn't mind sharing their build ideas and inspiring folks like me to keep tinkering, trying and coming up with my own custom jobs. To those who haven't posted don't be shy we would love to see what you have been up to. Todd
Keep them pics coming and thanks for the thread Todd. :)
Bruce- I’d love to come to the “Invasion,” but we’ll be on vacation that week. It would be a great opportunity to meet some of you guys. Maybe next year.
-Kevin.
Hello Again Here is my latest custom work for the RR. Fresh from the paint shops is my NW2 painted in the local Cape Cod Central colours. The CCC doesn’t own a NW2 so I had to be creative. They don’t actually have a GP38 as seen in the back either but they do have a chopped down GP9 I think it is that I borrowed the paint scheme from. Good enough for me.

Here’s a couple of my custom “Billboard” cars. I did the artwork and printed the decals on my laser printer for Ralphie’s Scales. Brunt’s Head Brand Provisions was born from an idea I had based on Boar’s Head. John Radder kindly provided the picture and artwork, Stan Cedarleaf the decals.

Locomotive is custom painted. I also switched the wood cab for a steel cab.

The J/S cars are also custom painted. I’ve got some better pictures somewhere, but these will have to do

Have a few more custom jobs, but I’ll have to hunt down the pictures. Ralph
Todd and Ralph: Admiring your paintwork here… sure could use your talents around the Littleton and Smallville! Todd, ordinarily I ignore diesels, but this is the second time in as many months that you’ve made an admirer out of me! Ralph, that passenger consist is superb, I envy your custom lettering, and LOVE that old timber frame bridge in the background… Thanks to both of you guys for your posts.
I’d better hunt up another pic of my own soon… ;>)
Hi Guys, Here is another little project I did back about 2004 (?), it is one of Bachmann’s original side tank Porter’s and still is I guess but somewhat shorter. I took the electric motor and reversed it and mounted it vertically so I could shorten the firebox to a more realistic length. This meant shortening the boiler and the side tanks as well, about an inch and a half if memory serves. I think I did a few other modifications to it as well but it has been a few years ago It still runs great but does have a little trouble on switches because of the short wheel base. A couple of pictures.

Great thread, keep them coming. Rick
I built a Jackson and Sharp diner from two Bachmann J&S cars (a combine and a coach). Turned out pretty good, and I rebuilt an LGB Bobber caboose into “donation jar” for our club.
They really are cool, but I don’t have good pictures available. Trust me.
Stan Cedarleaf supplied the decals for the J/S cars. Here is a little better view of the paint.

The PVRR caboose. Jon Radder designed the herald. I don’t think Jon was serious, and was probably quite surprised when I ran with it. I printed the decals, which are used on several cabooses and a box car.

A better view of the Brunt’s Head Brand Provisions reefer. The idea and slogans were mine. I think the art work is one of of Jon’s best efforts to date. When Jon sent me the artwork, I laughed so hard it brought tears to my eyes. I sent the artwork along to Stan Cedarleaf. Stan called me and seemed a little hesitant about printing them. I assured Stan that our buddy Ken had an excellent sense of humor and there wouldn’t be a problem. Ralph

Good thing, too, huh? Actually I find it a bit flattering…
You should be flattered…I wouldn’t do that to just anybody
Ralph
Never mind the fact it was one of the best pictures of Ken I’ve taken, it’s the rarity of a photo of Ken without a hat The only other one taken that day Ken was in a rather compromising position
