Large Scale Central

West Virginia & Kentucky V 3.5

Looks good Bart! You’re almost on schedule. Only problem I see is mowing inside the loop

I understand that HJ’s goats are for hire.

In all the time I’ve known Bart, (and that’s been quite awhile) that’s the furthest his RR has ever gotten…Good Job!

Yeah, I'm going to have to get going, or Bart will get ahead of me. :P I could always rely on the excuse that, "At least, I'm ahead of Bart," but no longer.....

Dont planon mowing inside the loop, the town of Chandler will be in there as well as structures for Buchanan Jct, the remaining section I'm going to convert into a planting bed and put in low maintenance perrenials.....

I’m impressed! In the last picture, what is the lead on the far left of the picture?

. That is for future expansion. The mainline isnt always going to end at Chandler, for now thw story is that there is a bridge out isolating this section of the line, in the near time a “Dave Goodson Memorial Turntable” and perhaps some staging tracks are gonna be installed here…

Very cool.

I'm not in the picture though? Oh wait you meant the RR....

AT 11:09 EDST Wed June 29, 2011 Track crews completed the mainline of the West Virginia & Kentucky Narrow Gauge line. This historical accomplishment marks the first time in over 15 years that any mainline project has been completed…Here is the main and passing sidings installed at the site of Chandler…

Shay No117 brings a construction train into Chandler for the first time…

A view of what is for now being called The Cutoff, with possible changes once official operating designations are determined. Chandler is on the let with The Junction on the right…

This is the site of the golden spike, the official ceremony to be held this Saturday. The straight section on the left is The Cutoff coming into the Junction with the curving section to the right is the mainline from Pearce Yard…

As you can see, no industrial sidings are in as of yet, but the mainline was completed almost a week ahead of schedule! Still a bit of lining and tamping to do, ground throws to fabricate and install, and adjustments to be made. From here the focus will turn to getting the industrial tracks up and running, and getting to the point of operations being able to commence in the fall…

Congrats Bart! Good looking.

A loop? Don’t let Fred see it!

Looking good, Bartman, looking good!

Beautiful trackwork Bart! I’ll never know how you get it so straight. Really looking good.

Congratulations!!! Buy that man a beer   [I will next time I see him] Looks great Bart.

I'll second that! :)

"From here the focus will turn to getting the industrial tracks up and running, and getting to the point of operations being able to commence in the fall… "

Set the date. First weekend of November is already taken that’s our’s, along with last weekend of September, that’s the 25th is at Marty’s, AndyC’s is September 18, October 16th is a club meeting at the Museum of Transportation. Narrow Gauge Convention is September 7-10th. I’m thinking the 10th and 11th of September is looking the best for “out of towners”, but Andy is going to want to be working on his railroad? yous got sum splainin to do Lucy.

No pressure, just thoughts.

Sept 16/17/18 is TrainOps 2012 up here, too.

Whoa! Then that won’t work. We need more weekends in the months

everyday is a weekend to me.... :)

Bart
Looks like you can run continuous now on the loop. Looks good.
Your switches look good also.
Are you putting batons under your switches??? In my experience, I had
a lot of gauge issues cause the ties moved around too much after a year
or two.
