We need to fill the void

I have the map. It’s .pdf, trying to figure out how to post it here. I just got rid of my trusty Adobe 6 and have some new-fangled dcc Adobe…but I’ll figure it out.

One other thing. Unless you guys are involved in three rail…this forum is dead tame compared to some of those.
DCS vs TMCC wars…PostWar vs Classic…Tubular vs GarGraves vs Atlas vs anything else.

The Plan. 130’ or so across the layout, left to right.

Interesting…your link didn’t show up for me at first. Now it does. Who knows.

Anyway, brings back fond memories. But maybe the operations section is a better place for discussion?

Fixed it. I don’t use this often enough. Recognize the places you got soaked?

I think that would be in the places with the white background…

I’m filling the void for you Bruce …http://www.flickr.com/photos/52862794@N08/9063839580/sizes/z/in/photostream/

We’ve been working literally for years to have the cars go out for setout, and not come back in except for cleanup.
So far, that works for all except empty returned gondolas and Boxcars.
All Reefers, Tanks, Flats, Logs, Ores and mining gons stay out for the duration.
Gives us working room for staging and incoming.

I hope that stayed laid out right. Wayfreight identifier on top line, with cars to take out at far right.
Then, the stops…and you can do them in any order you choose.
These are folded up into ziplock baggies…so we can run in the rain…
Locations are two-letter telegraph station codes. Gotta be on your toes…

I just use a long ignition screwdriver to uncouple my KD’s. insert and twist. No lifting of cars needed.
What’s wrong with that?

I think you would be…correct.

The red circle over on the left…labelled “The Tree”…BIG Cedar…with a yard light screwed to it years and years ago, right in the middle of the curve. Trains holding at Mehus Siding (MS), downgrade, get verbal permission from whoever is operating at Mound House (MH) for clearance to “The Tree”. Proceed and wait, headlight on, under the lamp…so the operator has visual to see that there is a train waiting.
When clear of his moves, protocol dictates he wait on the siding at MH and call the waiting train…“Proceed to the Main”.
After he is in, and the waiting train throws the iron and leaves, he turns and asks if he should leave the iron bent…always yes…as the loco comes off, is turned, the runs around.
“White Dot” rule on the switch stands are only overridden on verbal communication.

Not a damn thing…except he didn’t bring one on the airplane, and I didn’t have one for him to use.
We did encourage him to just lift the pin and they’d uncouple.

Kadee’s are very friendly that way

See, Korm? Nobody cares. BTDT.
We wait until someone starts a rumour thread and it’s off to the races.

I do LIKE the way that Kadee couplers couple. Uncoupling is another issue entirely. Just another reason I don’t use them.

Odd, I don’t have any trouble uncoupling Kadees. You must be holding your jaw wrong.

I use a #1 Phillips screw driver with a longish (6 inch) shaft.

Bachmann, Lionel, Delton, USA…all lift the pin. Even Aristo Classic. Even LGB knuckles.
In fact, I have started putting cut levers in selected location on locomotives, for a start.

Whenever I try to use the Bachman/Lionel/Delton/USA lift pin, I tend to derail the truck, especially if the car is down low. My knees are cranky. I must not be holding my jaw right, I guess.
