OK I’m digging this build back up as there has been some discussion on the Sintra or PVC board. I have stated what happened to my buildings from the heat of summer and warned what will happen. I have ridge vent and soffit vents on this structure with holes drilled under the roof. All I can say is anyone building with this stuff and planning on putting it in semi/ full sun I would highly suggest reinforcing it. I used a very simple redwood bracing and it was not enough. If you review the build the roof sat into the top of the walls and the building was screwed to a base. All 4 walls and the roof warped in the sun. So for those that don’t believe this will happen I say ok ?? I’ll let the pictures tell the rest.

Ouch :open_mouth:
Ralph

YOU forgot to bring the pictures with you this time Ralph…Ouch is right. Had the same issue with the acrylic as well. The coro did warp some but nothing like the pvc or acrylic, actually the acrylic was the worst so far.

Guess this means more structure to the structure builds.

I don’t think that’s to code.

I wonder if you have enough vents?

Rooster you got girly hand. Looks like you get your nails done.

Was that building out year round?

I’d stiffen up those redwood braces first thing. 1/4" redwood is pretty soft stuff and bends pretty easy. Try about 1/2" x 1’ or 1 1/2" pieces, top, middle and bottom and maybe some cross pieces, front to back and side to side.

Hi

Rooster - I think that you need to add some internal bracing, I have many buildings outside (in the UK -maybe not as hot as your area is?) and they all behave. I add both cross and (down the) side bracing, generally from PVC window sections and also scrap from my buildings that is mainly 5mm thick. The corners are stiffened up with a vertical piece inside.

Also the sintra board you are using maybe a ‘soft’ version - I have a friend round the corner who gets scrap sintra (well our (UK) version of it) and that is noticable softer then the german Vekaplan product, which needless to say is much more expensive!

Best of all, is the stuff with a ‘glossy’ finish on one side - keep that to the inside, and it is much stiffer, or stronger, needless to say its again more expensive- if painting that glossy side rough it up with sandpaper first. It is also harder to cut - even with my small circular saw!

Just thoughts for you, paint it black if you have large windows, so it cannot be seen, the scraps of the right angle section end up being used to hold the building down onto sections of thin (3/4") paving slab that acts as a foundation.

Hope that will assist.
