Vic's 2024 Mik's Challenge, Produce Exchange Transfer Shed

Vic,

Check out our build from last year. Y.D. made fruits from clay, I think. Also @Bill_Barnwell used beads, I think.

Thanks Eric I will, there’s also tons of stuff on YouTube. I’m going to build crates first so I can figure out how to infill the platform. That will also tell me how many different types of veggies I’ll need. They will be determined by the Sculpty colors on hand, red yellow green and orange. Probably apples, oranges, squash, and melons, maybe chilies instead of apples.

I vote for NM Hatch green chilies… Yumm good eats, a little roasting, a couple of tomaters, and a bag of chips…

Ok first attempt at the fruit boxes. Shouldn’t take too long to knock a few of these together. Finally getting to use the fruit labels I printed out years ago.

Great ideas, especially for the veggies. Not sure where to find the airsoft ammo around here.

in any dollar store, i suppose.
they are not airsoft, but for cheapest chinese toy pistols, that are driving the “bullets” by springs.
down here the pistols cost about $US 1.50 to 3.00. a bottle of “ammo” like below, about 1.50

Never seen those here. :open_mouth:

Vic you truly are the master of the little details. You and Ray. It just takes things to the next level. Next couple of levels.

I decided to try Clan Mueller method of fruit production using beads. I didn’t like the choice of pastel colors in multicolor packs, so I got wood bead variety pack and am painting them starting with yellow for lemons. So far so good.

What? NO little workers??? :innocent:

All my little workers are made of resin which makes them a stiff necked lot :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The “fruit” of my Clan Mueller efforts, look great from 3 feet. The idea is to create the illusion of reality right?

Everything so far in place. I want to add some hanging chili peppers but that’s something that will have to wait until after the finish date as the ones I want are prohibitively expensive after buying the wood beads for the veggies. Still a few details to add if I can find or make before the deadline but I’m 95% tonight. I’m hoping for luck at the Costa Mesa train show next weekend, maybe I’ll find my chilis there. :hot_pepper:

I think 3 feet is an understatement. They look great in close ups. I know I said this already but the attention you put into the little details is just perfection.

Vic;

I used red Macrame yarn (the really fine kind) twisted between two florist wires for my “fire hobbit” on the dragon fired locomotive. (She’s supposed to be really fond of extra hot chilies!) The yarn has a crinkled texture, so it looks fairly convincing from “stand-off” viewing distance. Three feet would probably work.

Hope this helps, David Meashey

Vic , you need this!!

The fruit and the building looks great !

Well NUTS! Looks like no train show this weekend. driving back from an appointment my car lurched then all the electronics went haywire, power steering failed, speedo and tach failed and like every warning light came on. I was able to nurse it to a parking lot at 10mph where I was able to get a tow to the repair shop. This is very bad as I think the cars brain died. It currently will not start, but when it did the engine still ran smoothly, but as I said it felt like every electrical system went on the fritz. Something like this happened 5 years ago when the brain died at 60k its now shy of 120k so I’m think maybe the same here but I wont know until they can assess it which may not happen until Thursday or Friday. That kills the show for me and I’m landlocked at home during the day. Luckily I can telecommute for work but what a PITA. I really think I need a 3rd beater car for emergencies like this. Bugger!

Dang Vic.

Sorry to hear that. I hate cars. The wife and I have a 2010 HHR that is our back up emergency ride. It’s paid for and liability insurance is cheap. It has saved our bacon more than few times.

Vic,

Sorry about the car. Modern cars and their finicky electronics are among the reasons CINCHOUSE lets me keep my parents '72 COUGAR around the house!

Also, Youngest Daughter was pretty flattered you used her fruit making technique!
