Bruce Chandler said:Michael's Crafts sell various sizes of hole punches, down to 1/16 (see my riveting article). Making rollers should be a simple matter of punching some styrene and a bit of glue.
I was thinking of putting rollers on, but I couldn't find anything suitable.
OK. The REAL reason is that I’m lazy and didn’t think anyone would notice.
Well, I was gonna say something, but I was being polite.
Now THAT’S a FIRST! Anyway, here they are painted.

I also painted the roof, though it’s not as smooth as I’d like; though I’m not sure it matters that much. I was originally going to paint the ends and roof a weathered black, but it looked too much like Halloween. One side done. The doors are a bit reluctant to move, but move they do.

Bruce, the detailing on the doors make quite a difference… The whole car, together looks great…
Outstanding!
Very nice Bruce, great job.

Cool. Nice car to add a little variety to the fleet. I picture one as a circus car with some nice Tigers in the door. Ralph
I’m looking forward to seeing it. Outstanding, as usual
I got a flower pot just like that…
I like it! Ralph’s thinking tigers, I’m thinking a guy in a black-and-white striped jumpsuit with a tin cup banging it on the door. Forget the farmers’ market. You can now run that new spur down to Lorton.
Later,
K
Beautiful! Very nicely done, as usual.
There is an easier way to make a “ventilated boxcar”, but it involves a shotgun and the results don’t look as good.

It’s more fun, though.
Today I ripped off the styrene roof walk supports for the boards that come out from the main roof walk either end. They seemed too big and clunky. I replaced them with some brass strips, which I think looks nicer. I also fabricated brass supports for the main roof walk at each end of the car. The lettering is complete on one side. This is for Mike Oates’ railroad, the Chesapeake Western. Mike has been operating with me over the past year or so.

There’s a few things left to do. I need to paint the grab irons on the roof walk pieces. Letter the other side. Clip the NB holding the grabs to the roof walk. A little weathering. It should make it to York. I’ll try to see if I can stash it back in Ric’s alcove.
That turned out nice. I like that orange color…
Thanks! I finally got the last fiddly bits done. Here’s the official photo.

The other side, with the door slid open.

An end, showing the brass straps holding the roofwalk.

It’s hard to really see the inside through the bars, but it’s nice to know there’s a detailed interior.

You bringing it with to York? There’s a few details I want to examine up close.
Jon,
Yep, it’ll be there. Well, assuming I remember to load up the car.
No fair looking close!
Can’t wait to see IT and the EBT cars…see ya in the mornin…
