Unfinished projects

My list of unfinished projects. Mostly paint, decals and weathering. A little detailing here and there. I apologize for the lousy pics. I think I need a new camera. Derrick, based on D&RGW OP.

Derrick Idler flat.

Derrick tool car (carries cribbing, cable, etc)

Trash Gon complete with steel liner.

2 40’ flats. One reinforced with rail

Clearance car, with adjustable side feelers.

wow, thats pretty good. You’re mostly done.

My list is:
Build 20’ wood trestle
Buildings for my layout.
Warren-Lamb 2 truck shay from a bachman model.

There are more, but I cant remember off the top of my head.

John. that’s a very impressive line up. They look awesome.

John,
That’s a great looking string of cars. I especially like the infrequently modeled clearance car! You really need to get that train on the road with an appropriate loco pulling it.

That’s un-finished? What about the boxes & drawers full of bits possibly with a started frame or something? A plastic shell partially patched together? Those are beautiful piece of art as is and the paint and decals will only be icing at this point.

Great job!

Chas

When I first read this, I thought you wrote 'cribbage table." I’ve either gotta get new glasses or clean the monitor screen. :stuck_out_tongue:

That will be one sweet looking work train
Most of my unfinished projects look like a box of parts
Ralph

The clearance car was based on a set of D&RGW drawings I found in an old NGG magazine.
Mine is the NG version. (1:20.3) The standard gauge version was build like a solid tunnel portal.
The height is standard. You adjust the width for your widest loco (Prolly a K-37) and off you go.
Pushing the clearance car with an idler flat between the loco.
I’ll have to lease it out to club members so they can clear their right of way.

There might be a cribbage board in the tool car, Steve.

I could post a picture of my unfinished projects but all you’d see is stacks of wood, styrene, plexiglass and coroplast and containers of glue and paint…ya know, sumthin like this:

Ken,
Those are “unstarted” projects.

Around here…that’s the same thing… Unless you’re interested in seeing the list the wife has on the refrigerator…

You mean you let her do that? Put it on the fridge? There’s no way you can claim that list got lost!

Doesn’t mean I read it. It’s her fridge, she can hang anything she wants there…

John - Those all look pretty close to finished to me. Mine not nearly so… A Stomper based speeder. Got it operating and the basic shape done; bought some details but never got motivated to finish it. It’s the yellow and white thing in the center of this shot…

EDIT: Found a better photo…

A Crossing Shanty. Made a mock-up and the basic acrylic box was finished, then got bogged down it what to use for siding, etc.

Plus several LSC/EBT Box Car kits that have never even been opened :frowning:

Nice work John. Show more.

Still don’t have a paint booth or drying oven. I’ve left off some of the hardware until after I prime and sand the first coat. All are scratch built except the trucks and hardware from Ozarks, Hartford and Phil’s ng. All are 1:20.3 I have to wait until it’s warmer outside before I can paint them. These are my last builds until next winter. It’s almost time to get back to work on some building projects that need finishing. 40 foot bunk car

You’ve been busy John. Those look great. You can send them up here for paint. I promise to give them a good home here on the KVR.

Thanks and no thanks, (the move up north…  ) I made some drilling patterns using my first Phils kits to drill the hardware holes in the bodies. I don’t have a small precision table saw yet, so I cut the scribed siding with a razor knife. All the other cuts are made with my trusty miter saw. Doors and windows were punched out using an Exacto razor chisel. (That was a pain.) Here’s some drop from the projects. Time to clean the shop for the next job.

John, some great looking cars… neat…
