Thanks guys. My wife will be quite happy to know that my “forum friends” all agree with her. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Makes me wonder how you made that leg lamp, David…?

That’s what I was talking about achieving with the roll of tin.
I like!

The leg lamp was a booby prize, given to me, the prize booby, at the LSOL banquet back in 2006 IIRC. Jon asked me if I wanted a plain brown bag to carry it in to my car. I replied that “No, I will proudly carry my badge of shame to my Jeep without a bag.”
Great story, haha!

Never mind, the postage for your cut offs would have put me on mac n cheese, I’d have to sell my truck to make a down payment on the first of your solutions…
After pressure washing and staining the last two weekends, this weekend I was able to finish the storage boxes and backdrop. Mainly cleaning, installing the remaining box lid lifts, and final countersinking / screwing of the b’drop panels.
Next step will either be laying the track or making storage shelves, haven’t decided yet.
Cheers,

Looks great, Cliffy. So, are you gonna paint the posts light blue in between each blue panel? That would create one long blue plane.
-Kevin.
Let the posts alone…different element and breaks it up .
I personally like it how it is.
Hate to say it but … Rooster’s right.
Hi guys, thanks for chiming in.
Thanks very much Kevin. But no, the posts are almost like a foreground structure you’re looking through, seeing the sky behind. Amazingly, it sort of works. And as Rooster and Sean said, the posts help break things up; and in so doing, blend the backdrop with the larger structure.
My main fear was what to do with the three posts standing 8’ forward of the backdrop, where the deck above is wider. I’d wondered if it would be better to paint them black, to better “see past them”. But they seem fine as is; the stark blue draws the eye pretty strongly.
Thanks again guys,
CJ

Nope let them stand as well …Honestly I didn’t even see those 3 forward posts till you mentioned it. Amazing how the eye travels. I did notice that you cut into one of the footers on the under deck storage though.

Looks fantastic so far Cliff, nice work !
Cliff,
Not reading the posts every day, I am amazed AT YOUR PROGRESS. This really turned out great and will act like a screen divider or staging area for operations. Really like the contrasts of colors of posts and panels. That last picture is a real testament to the work.

Thanks very much David! And I’m really glad that you didn’t notice those posts!
Interesting that you saw the cut footers, haha! I remember the bummed feeling when I realized I had to do it… Boy, that was a messy dusty job. So I’m glad someone noticed! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

That truly means a lot Ric. Thanks very much.
Cliff,
Is this storage box a Devon-like project or a train project? I don’t see any track! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)
BTW it looks GREAT! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
But there is the cement roadbed. That puts it a step above Devon’s “railroad” projects.
Started laying the track today, which I always think is a lot of fun.
Cheers,
