Large Scale Central

Under-the-deck train storage project

J E E N Y U S… Genius!

-Kevin.

That’s way too kind of ya Kevin, haha! Glad you liked it.

Cliff,

Those gas struts really work well! Congrats. It all looks GREAT! Two likes for your great effort. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Thanks a bunch Joe, I’m sure glad you like how it turned out!

I should mention again that though the gas struts were vaguely in the back of my mind as a backup plan, Rooster’s suggestion of them got the gears spinning enough to fully investigate them.

Nice job buddy.

I don’t care who gets the credit for thinking, you done it.

John

Oh great … and I thought Rooster’s head was too big already!

Cliff great job!

Hi John, you bet, the main thing is get’r done! And doing so with the help of friends makes it all the better.

And Sean, I didn’t know that was an issue, but thanks anyway, haha!

Today I finalized the template for the entry roadbed, and here it is in rough position.

Next will be elevating the template properly, followed by some minor excavation and then the final forming for the concrete. And then concrete, cleanup. etc. Oh, and track. But that will have to wait until all the pressure washing and staining.

My good friend Jerry (aka “naptowneng”) took a video of the layout with his drone, which illustrates how the backdrop & storage area are situated relative to the layout.

Thanks Jerry!

Nice work Cliff!

Along with Rooster’s ““nice work””, the video of your layout looks good, nice layout… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Cliff,

That is a terrific looking railroad! Here is your video embedded…

Nice layout!

I might be inclined to throw a few (say 2" ) vents in the bottom 1/2 …WHY …cause you can and it won’t hurt either!

Only a thought and example of my thought but not really the total thought. I’m just trying to boost my post count anyway.

Thanks Ken, thanks Andy!

And thanks Joe, how did you do that?

Rooster, thanks again. And since you’re channeling my good friend Mr. Lehrian, I’ll confess that I’m leaning toward the stainless steel version we discussed earlier,

Before that though, I want to lay the track, and see what the ventilation issues are.

Sorry Cliff I just re-read and “did” miss his suggestion about that. Stainless is nice but not really needed. However it does look cool though!

I’ll be quiet now and watch you work!!

Cliff,

This is how it’s embedded…I have asked BD to make this a sticky in the testing forum click here

This topic has to be re-mastered every time the site owner makes an upgrade to the software. For this incarnation the procedure is…

Grab the embed code from the YouTube video (directly on the video): right click in OPERA (copy embed code); right click in FireFox (Copy embed code); right click in Chrome (get embed code);right click in IE (get embed code).
In the reply window click on “insert/edit video” button in the top row (looks like a movie frame), and select “Embed”.
Paste the embed code (copied from YouTube) in the box and click “OK”.

That’s what we all found works now. Some day down the road we will have to find a new way for new software, but for now this works. Have fun!

Joe, do you have to do all those steps because you are all using Firefox??? I’m trying to understand… I’m here thru AOL, and I just copied a youtube song, and all I did was copy the youtube ““Http: line”” and pasted it into ““insert/edit video”” above, and hit post reply…

This is a test of what Joe said (thanks Joe). Using Chrome, I right-clicked on the YT vid, and chose “Copy Embed Code.” Then came here, clicked the film icon, “Insert/edit video.” Then pasted.

Huh. O well. I guess I messed it up, but more tomorrow.

Cliff,

I think you forgot to click on the EMBED button in the Insert Video window.

Andy,

Pasting the basic URL won’t embed the video.

Joe, thanks, I’ll keep trying later. And thanks for your encouragement, I appreciate it a lot.

Tomorrow is another work travel day for me, but Friday and Monday and Tuesday are scheduled days off. So hopefully I’ll complete the concrete entry ramp in that duration, but we’ll see.
