Large Scale Central

UK temperatures plummet

…down to -20C in some places. That’s -2F. The entire country, seem from space, looks like Greenland, but without the balmy weather.

‘The longest cold snap in a generation…’

‘The coldest winter since 1947…when over a thousand died in their houses…’

‘People are right to question the so-called global warming effect…the Met Office needs a good looking at - so far this last year they haven’t got ANYTHING right…’

So what’s it like where YOU are?

South Eastern British Columbia, Canada. Beautiful sunshine, blue sky and -5C. About 20cm of snow on the ground.
Ron

No snow at our elevation but COLD! We do have some sun, going use it to pick up leaves and load the barrels. Not running weather. I wonder when we can exspect the Ice Sheets to return?

Paul

sunny and 72 f here.

Most of the US has been under the influence of a big Canadian cold wave for the past week. Even northern Florida has been hit with freezing temps at night. All the fruit growers have been out icing the crops to protect them -

Not meaning to throw any wood on the fire  but “Global Warming” doesnt mean it gets warmer everywhere all the time, alot more heat energy is getting stored in the air and water and all that energy has to go somewhere, so while someplaces will get warmer all the time, others will get wilder extremes in temp between winter and summer, more snow and ice in alot of places and heavier rains and higher humidity in others, and some places will get nothing at all and be in drought like our frinds in Oz. “Global Climate Change” is a better term as it better describes that (for whatever the reasons you chose to beleive or disbeleive) the climate IS changing and we are seeing wilder weather around the world.

BTW 72 and sunny here today

BTW, sunny and 15F at 0700 this morning in beautiful downtown Deer Park, WA

Its been cold, very windy and snowy here. 1-3 inches in the forcast for tonight. I love the snow and cold.

It was TAC who first raised the subject of Global Warming, aka Climate Change, not Victor.
Something it was ill advised to do.

Cold here. We fell 1 day short of breaking the record of consecutive days below freezing.
We’ve had quite a few 14(F) degree nights in the last two weeks.
The average day time high in December was 10(F) degrees below normal.

And your point is??? Gee, I miss the old days!

Sorry, folks, have I missed something here about [gulp] global warming? I was quoting [look carefully, there are quote marks around my words] folks in the street and on the news…

Yep. The old days. Gone for good!!!

TAC, some folks just have a knee jerk reaction when their religion is addressed.

Uh huh. Except when it serves you to jump in.

To get back to TAC’s original question, not a cloud in the sky and 39C here in South Australia, 41C for the next 3 days, to bloody hot to work on my railway

I iz just saying da climate iz a changin’…the reason why it iza changin’ (natural cycle/CO2 buildup/cowfarts) I will leave up to the scientists, not the preachers the media or political spindoctors. All I said was that as we get warmer, all that energy has to go somewhere, it doesnt just sit in a box somewhere, and that we may be seeing some of the effects of this energy getting redistributed, thats all. I’ve always said the reasons why are not as important as that something is happening. I find the media vitriolic debate over this whole thing rather funny, sort of like the crew of the Titanic debating about who’s right while the ship sinks ever lower, eventually even the neighest of the niegh sayers has to admit something is happening when the water reaches their lower lip. I’m no greenie, I just happen to agree with the 99.9% of the worlds scientist who agree something is happening. I’m all for alternative energies, cause no oil means no dealing with the nutjobs in the middle east. But I’ve always felt nothing will get done, none of the world governments like China or India will truely lift a finger until places start dissappearing under water after Greenland becomes truely green again and the Antarctic ice sheets collapse. I personally think it will take the proverbial brownian matter hitting the fan (like Florida becoming an island) before anything really gets done. So not pickin’ a fight, juz pozing an observation.

I’m offended and you guy’s managed to hurt the one feeling I had left so I’m not coming here anymore!
