Steve, go west, about 500 miles… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

That will put me in Pacific Beach, WA. Then what?

Well, Steve, for an old salt like you that should be no real problem. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Or he could turn around, take his easiest route to 90 East, drive 3100 some-odd miles, and be here in time for TrainOps.

I figured, being an ““Old Salt””, you’d feel at ease and at home around salt water… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

But Bob does have a point… When you get thee\re, head to Trainops, then you can say you went coast to coast to get there… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Plus Pacific Beach is an old military installation, now MWR, you can go relive some memories…

I would think that as an old salt you would be more than delighted to visit not only TrainOps 2015, but the USS Constitution which Bob has conveniently arranged to be fairly close by.

A classmate of mine from a Navy school was stationed there. She said it was pretty good duty. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Its on my bucket list. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Looking forward to TrainOps.

This summer the house decided that it needed attention. Just as we thought we were finishing a painting job we found a small dry rot hole next to the side steps.

Alas the more we took things apart the bigger the problem became. 16’ of new sills a repaired main beam and rehanging the front door later and things are beginning to go back together.

Now its time to get the railroad back in operation for Sundays event. The deck for the large bridge behind bat yard is now in the garage and hopefully be this weekend can be put back in place.

Look forward to seeing everyone on the 21-23.

Stan

Doug Matheson and I will be there. I have already booked our room at the Westford Regency.

We are fed up with the one hour line ups at the border crossings south of Montreal, so we are going to try a new route. We will cross at Ogdensburg as the lines there are usually very short. From there we will use Highways 37 and 11 across the top of New York State to Rouses Point and cross Lake Champlain on 2 and 78 to Swanton, VT next to Interstate 89 South. That will take us down to Concord, NH where we can pickup the Everett Turnpike. That will take us down to 495 West below Nashua. Boston Road (exit 32) will take us to Littleton Road in Westford which is near the hotel and Paul’s Diner.

We are looking forward to operating on both Bob’s and Stan’s Railroads again.

Paul - That sounds like a fun route. I had considered something similar on the way to Ottawa the last time we came, but pulling 30 foot of house behind I decided to stick with a more level route. Let us know how it works out for you.

We usually do that route when we cross over, but we usually cross at Blackpool, not Ogdensburg. The drive through Vermont is nice. We’ve also changed it up by taking 22 south to Plattsburg, 87 south to some route east (either 7 to 346, or something across that part of NY that gets us to 2 east in MA

Last call for meal RSVPs. If you havent notified me that you’ll be here for some, or all of TrainOps, then its likely we wont have enough food. So if you’re planning on being here for lunch and/or dinner on Saturday, please let me know before Friday the 14th.

Bob

You will have to do without me this year. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)

My schedule is not mine … (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cry.gif)

Have fun!

Bob;

Since I will not be able to attend your wonderful day of operations, I thought I’d send a note, wishing that you, and all our FRIENDS, have a day of great weather, good fun, great operations, and overall, a SAFE weekend.

Good fortune, Bob…I look forward to seeing pictures, and hearing of good operations.
