Train running at Kens

Just wanted to post a thank you to Ken Brunt and his wife for opening their house and layout to us today. I had a very enjoyable time, and a nice lunch. Though i didn’t take anything to run, Kens is all battery, the company was well worth spending time with. Hope everyone gets home safely.

The pleasure was all mine Dave. Glad you had a good time as I had a good time having everyone over.

Oh yah....I forgot about that..........you're still plugged in to the grid. But since you didn't have anything to run, it should have given you plenty of time to take pictures :D Ralph

But I don’t see any pictures!

Ya he breaks my balls for no pictures. Now its my turn. Where are the pictures Hollywood?

Yes …thanks for the hospitality Ken ! Even though Fred broke the toilet!!! Glad the boy and I came down and my way home up Rt 41 was 20 miles and 20 some minutes shorter…But my favorite roadside stand was freaking closed forgot it was Sunday! I did see Strasburg had a CVRR tender out by the shops!!

I’ll help ya’ out Hollywood

Rooster must of fixed the toilet  Ralph

Did Roos find a new dad? The Nashville one might be pleased. And what’s with that blue & white powered boxcar hogging most of the pics?

BTW Rooster great shots and looks like you guys had a great day at Kens.

A big thank you to Ken for having us. Just got home about 9:30; decided going into Delaware to go home didn’t compute, so I took 41 to 10 into Reading; then my normal way from there. 10 was slow, but a beautiful drive through the Amish farm country. Lots of buggies & folks in traditional dress out enjoying what turned into a sunny afternoon.

Found another great diner in the way home; Clinton Station Diner in Clinton, NJ off I-78. Ate in the dining car and had a great time. Tried, and failed, to eat the largest piece of Chocolate Cream Pie we had ever seen

I’ll try and get some pictures posted tomorrow night.

Hey I had a good day Friday great to meet a bouch of the guys. And for you goys that didnt get over to Pocono Mountian Garden Railway Society mod, we were right next to the mod that kept smashing there trains.

The weather some what cooperated. It was cloudy, a tad bit chilly and wet, but the rain held off and I had a great time having all you guys over, even if I had to take time to fix the toilet. 30 minutes after everyone left, the sun managed to find it’s way out.
You’ll have to depend on the attendees posting pictures, because I didn’t take any. I was too busy having a good time and answering questions. I just want to thank everyone that showed up. It was the perfect ending to a great weekend.

Jon, I’m surprised that’s the route you took, but it is a nice drive. I go that way when heading up to Canada, to avoid the traffic around Valley Forge and King of Prussia. Glad to hear those with the shortest drives got home OK.

Great pictures. Glad to see Rooster was behaving. It was nice to see roosters sensitive side.

So…pic 11. Was that Andy’s likeness on the train???

Close…that was Rooster…

It was only 30 more miles than then where my GPS wanted to take me on 276 around Philly and I didn't really want to pay the tolls on the DM bridge and the turnpike to follow your suggestion. We had a real nice ride and a great dinner too. If I was in a hurry I would definitely take your suggested route.

Jon,

I believe that car at the diner is one of the original Blue Comet observation cars from the Jersey Central.

They did say it on the menu that it was from the Blue Comet. I noticed when we were leaving that it was an OBS car. Seemed very narrow inside. A deuce on one side and a quad on the other with maybe a 28" aisle in between.

It was a lot of fun to eat in, I did mention to Marilyn that they should introduce some artificial movement and some rail clack sounds in the background

Got my pictures uploaded. This is Ken’s “Expansion” area. It’s a bit bigger than his original railroad. When looking at this section I realize how naked my layout is without any structures…
