Too Hot

Too hot to even just sit in the shade. It was 96F shortly after 11am.
Over 100F now :open_mouth:
Some time today I need to repair some damage inflicted by man’s best friend. Wasn’t home for several days and the dogs were good.
Went on a digging rampage the night after we got home. I guess I should have brought them a souvenir
Ralph

It was miserable here yesterday and Friday… very hot, very humid… lightning struck Kim’s metal patio table outside our bedroom window…

Today it’s quite lovely, cool and pleasant

~81 degrees in coastal N. California, but my job for the day is to get an electric door in a neighboring hanger temporarily wired to a portable generator so that we can have access to store ~800 bales of hay that are currently scattered in the positions they dropped from the baler on the airport.

The hanger building is all metal with no windows or vents. Temperature inside is currently well over 100 degrees. I am on break from a hot difficult (volunteer) job.

If I can make the door work, the next task is to move the bales inside. 800 55# bales weigh a total of about 44,000#, or 22 tons. I’m hoping we are able to hire some day labor for that task.

Happy RRing,

Jerry

So far this entire summer has been very hot and humid here. The only thing I want to do is sit and watch trains run. The worst part is my pool liner got a hole in it. We have been without the pool for a month now. At least tomorrow the new liner is being put in.

to hot and humid most of this summer to even just sit and watch trains. Had one nice week just before the 4th got to run trains then but have not been or wonted to run them seens then.

on the good news side, my new buildings are holding up great in the crappy weather.

I hid in the basement all day yesterday. Went outside for a total of 90 seconds to get something from the car. Today was not quite as bad, but just carrying the camera around to take a few pictures I was dripping with sweat. We have had unbelievable thunderstorms go just North and South of us all week and more predicted for today. We went out for brunch and shopping, but spent very little time out of air conditioning, where I am hiding again now.

There is a humidity break forecast for early next week here. A low of 50!!! I’ll be opening ALL of the windows as we have been shut tight for a month.

I have to agree, It’s way to hot outside for me… I sent Jane out to work…

Real nice Andy. Guess you don’t have a SWMBO.

We are in between hot spells right now, 80’s this weekend, was near 100 last weekend, likely will be again next.

Come on Geoff…stop wimping out

I spent two hours outside last night trying to troubleshoot power issues…never got 'em fixed. Only thing that runs at the moment is a battery 4-6-0

Think what you wish Dave. You need to remember, Jane let him live. However, this may be a day by day decision.

Victpr,

This time of year when I run trains on the club layout in Palmdale I inspect the engines afterwards to see if the grease melted!

It’s summer!

Doug, Yikes! Summer is why, even though my layout is in the garage, I still use only metal wheels to prevent the plastic ones from leaving that gunky residue on the railhead from them getting too hot from just the ambient temperature in there. Still the new garage is ALOT more comfortable than the old one, which was an uninsulated hot box that would have made Cool Hand Luke cry uncle.

Hey Ric I was just poking a little fun at the way Andy worded it. Think Jane is wonderful and Know she does all she does from love. Really too hot for anyone to be outside unless necessary. I like the entire alcove group and would not do anything to offend any.

Dave

Dave,

No offense taken. I just enjoy Andy’s remarks, especially when every once in awhile HE thinks, he’s in charge.

We had a lovely Sunday in Chicago. I hear tomorrow it’s back to the oven, or is that autoclave?

Don’t you wish you could turn weather extremes on and off like a light switch. I could go for about three days of winter right now
