Time to switch to model boating

According to the forecasts, we are either due for 14 days straight rain, or 14 days rain less two possible sunny days when I have to be at work …
and we are under an outdoor watering ban because of a broken main :stuck_out_tongue: I have four rain barrels overflowing
OTOH, it may be a good time for overseeding … it ain’t going to dry out

And Chris, you have a concern?

Other than being all wet? Nah!

He’s trying to figure out if he should convert his garden railway from a shortline to a terminal switching line to feed all the cargo boats he’s going to model. Question… how big is a trans-pacific container ship in 1/32?

That second photo is interesting. Counting from the left … first rail, gauge, second rail. So far so good. Continuing right… next rail and … wait… another rail, and THEN the gauge… and the opposite rail… and then another rail in between… and then in the middle it doubles up even more.

What’s going on here?

Are you expecting heavy seas, Bob? That is an impressive weather bow. Is that also on the Great Lakes?

Looks like Lionel 3 rail track. I guess there IS a prototype for everything. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think that barge is an early Aquatrain. The odd lines are part of the hold-down gear:

By comparison with people in Japan, along the Mississippi and the Red River, none at all ...

We came out from under the water this weekend. Not all Gumbo taste good, some is just a lot of mud. Our customer’s swimming pool, er lounge.

Does anyone find it strange that after a week or so the problems in Japan just magically disappeared from TV news. I still see a mention or two in the print media, but as far as main-stream TV goes - problem solved. This all went away just about the time that fallout from the reactor problems was due to hit the west coast.

I got behind in my disaster preparedness with Katrina, the BP oil spill, global warming and western wild fires, along with killer bees, swamp fires in Florida that is running out of water from being drained and the next ice age. I had the fallout from the nuclear disaster in Japan scheduled for next Tuesday from 2 to 3 pm, but it was postponed because of a hole in the ozone and sun spots caused by El Camino using to high of octane that we ran out of in 1978, which was six years before 1984, which was brought about by red light cameras causing ions to fall of my computer screen and make me sterile before we had our two kids. High cholesterol and blood pressure has helped control my obesity and heart disease, but has left me craving diet coke that is destroying my liver and does not have the medicinal value of the demon rum. And I just learned the end of the World is predicted for this coming Saturday and I’m going to loose sleep now, hoping I’m ready. Wonder what’s going to happen if a well educated scientist from our public school system is wrong?

Yeah

Ric,

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm, here?

You better be careful, or our resident wet nurse might get upset.

Standard short media attention span ... unless it's about some Z-list Hollywood "celebrity", in which case the attention goes on forever. (And I work in the (print) media ..., God help me).

I don’t think Bob has ever banned anyone from this site, but if I were him that comment would earn the first.

Agreed Jon.
