Time for trains?

I am finding not much time to run some trains. :frowning:

However when I do, I run the MOW train ( track cleaning train)
So now I will have to add the leaf blower to the train.
How many are in the same boat?

Not leaves exactly, but those big white blooms from the Hydrangea’s…

RUN them ? RUN ??? They are surely intended to sit still and be looked at (allegedly) by idiots like me .

I hear ya Sean. I have constant leaf drop now. Usually the month of October means no running trains, instead I use the time to hike and bike and enjoy the fall colors. I also use this time to bring the buildings in for their yearly coat of Thompson water seal and then they go back out after I blow the leaves off. Although this year I dont have to worry about it. Im moving in a month.

Great shot Ken. You might have to pick up the slack for my lack of running this winter

I agree, that is a great pic, that does look real…

I broom off my track with a cheap broom I bought at the dollar store. I forget what I paid for it, but it wasn’t much.

Any plants with large or that drop many leaves are trimmed - LEVEL WITH THE GROUND

Gregg, but the trees keep my house cool in the summer, and mee too when I am woiken outside.

I understand completely. Living in a mild climate does indeed have its benefits.

I was more making fun that my goal was zero maintenance, so anything that causes more maintenance is given an evil eye.

Greg

not yet…and Ken, I agree that is a great shot!

No more running this season- I just tore up all my track as we are in the midst of a big do over. This time, I’ll try to get it right!

-Kevin.

We have very few leaves but we do have pine needles that have to be collected by hand.

I’m really waiting for some snow!!

About two weeks ago the tiny branches and leaves started dropping in the yard. That puts an end to most running on the RR for me, so I’ve pulled the track in one town for a rebuild. Its about time to bring in all the buildings, too. Maybe this weekend.

Me too, up at the 1600+ meter level where it is really beneficial.

Dieseldude, Kevin, good luck in your rebuild.

Gee, yesterday I had the shop crews drag the FA1 out onto the line for some photos. Then I ran my latest purchase, a Little Critter, around with my commemorative cars. The end of the season is still about a month away for the P&CSRR.

This time of year is a drag. The leaves are just starting to change colour down here on the Cape and soon enough they will fall and blanket my RR to the point where I need ot get the gas blower out to run. What is really bad right now are the acorns. I should be wearing a hard hat out there! Sunday I put the blower car on after removing most debri from the track by hand and in one loop the blower car derailed 4 times and the engine twice! The second lap the train was still finding acorns to derail on. The third and fourth lap was fine but the fifth acorns were causing problems again . UGH

And for the “it didn’t happen without pictures” crowd.

Presently in very short supply since we have visitors.
