The trendy lefties are at it again

Steve,
My first 2 years were as a draftee, the next 7 were as a volunteer.
I left the service when my last enlistment was up because my wife, a captin was refused promotion to major because she was married to an enlisted. She resigned her commision in protest…

My son, also a Marine, tells a different story than what you have heard…
He served both in Iraq and Afganistan.

Actually, I never watch MSNBC, CNN, FOX, et al. I get my news the old fashioned way, I read newspapers… Local, Dallas Morning News, Washington Post, all quite conservative. New York Times for opposing views.
I watch the local weather on tv, then shut it off.

I do not kow-tow to any political dogma, I maintain my independence and vote as an independent. I vote for the best individual running for office, not the column headed by an elephant or donkey.

Your rant against the Speaker of the House and anyone
that you deem to be a supporter of the “enemy”, tells
me that you voted for the loosing side in the last election,
All I can say in rebutle is, get over it and get on with your life…
You’ve got trains to run…

Dave…

Oh boy, I sure would like to say something but as I purposely do not comment on USA domestic politics I shall refrain from doing so.
I do feel free to comment on British (because I am a Brit) and Australian (because I live here) politics, and I do.

I’m going to say just a small bit, because if I get really going I’m going to pi** off a few people.

The Democrats won, and there was a reason for it. The supposed war in Iraq is not a war to defend our freedom or protect our country, but a war of greed, oil, government corruption and incompetence. The majority of America can see that. The rest need to pull their heads out of the sand and open their eyes.

And the troops stayed there fighting , unsupported by their own countrymen .

Shame .

Now we await another thread hijack .

Come on , you " couldn’t give a damn as long as it ain’t me fighting " characters .

Those blokes in the warzones are defending your freedom by doing the bidding of the elected governments .

You elected them .

Go spit your bile at someone who can hit back —I would love to see some of you walk into a bar near a military base and start spouting .

As I said at the start of the thread , support your troops .

If you can’t do that , you’re no better than the wringing hand brigade .

Not fit to be called Americans , Australians , Canadians , Poles , Czechs , and all the other countries fighting there .

Parasites

Hey Warren!!

How do you like being called a parasite?

See what I mean about paranoia?

Talk about the original whingeing POM. Now I know how the term got invented.

Tony, you don’t get it, you never will, and that is a damn shame.

I think it is you who is paranoid, full of self importance.

Still, I’m sure that your mother still loves you, so all is not lost.

I am sorry to hear that. I was in a similiar situation with my first wife.

Tell your son from me, "Thank you for your service."

I don't find the Washington Post to be all that conservative. In fact, I think that it pushes the secular progressive agenda as a matter of course. I've never read the Dallas fish wrap.

As do I. I find that Libertarian agrees with me more often than not.

Dave, if you aren’t appalled by what the Speaker is doing in regards the gummint aircraft, and if you aren’t appalled by those who hate the US enough to call for its defeat, thereby giving aid and comfort to the enemy, prolonging this war and increasing the casualties, then you need to re-evaluate your position, because where you stand is untenable.

Warren, are my BNSF coal drags in yet?

madwolf

Tony talks of paranoia .
Then asks if someone likes being called parasites .
The parasites I refer to are those who will not back our troops

I hope that is clear , if you don’t support those who defend you , you are a parasite . Looks like Tony may have made a freudian slip .

It looks like we may have some whingeing Canadians , any name for them ? The Brit troops who go to BATUS seem to get on OK with the locals , so perhaps you don’t get as many .

Never mind , Tony , your adoptive country can still beat us at cricket . It also sends troops to defend freedom . So it must have something going for it .
According to my Australian friends , and the ones serving here who we see frequently . a whingeing pom is a British immigrant to Australia who moans constantly about the old country , (or the UK) in order to try to fit in . True Ozzies , born out there , despise the whingeing pom .
I note also that you have commenced the other thing that you deride so snidely , personal attacks .
Beginning to get the idea of free speech , are we ?

Mike

So , to get us back on track , do not allow these parasites to detract from the theme , and remember to support your troops .

Mike again .

Mike, show me where I have said I do not support the brave troops defending their countries.

I do support the troops. The grunts, the Tommies and their allies.
I do not support the warmongering fools who have sent the brave troops to do their deaths in an ill advised misadventure in Iraq on a premise based on outright lies.
That includes specifically your Prime Minister who you choose to support when he does something you like, such as invade Iraq, and damn when he does something you don’t like, such as support measures to tackle Global warming and climate change.
If that isn’t hypocrisy I don’t know what is.

Gentlemen, get real.
Saddam Hussein was an evil p***k who committed many atrocities. He was aided and abetted in some of these atrocities by the Western powers because, at the time it suited the Western powers to have him as an ally. Surely you have seen the newsreel footage of Donald Rumsfeld shaking the hand of Saddam in Iraq?
Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with the evil attack, by mainly Saudi Islamic extremists, on the Sep 11 2001.
Democracy has not been brought to Iraq and never will.
I still think the best thing the West can do in Iraq is to foster a civil war, get out as fast as possible and hope the mad Islamists kill as many of each other as possible

I am a friend of the USA.
Sometimes it is the painful duty of friends to point out to their friends, the folly of their ways.

Tony , there you go again .

I said no such thing .

I said IF , IF for crissake , you do not support your soldiers . If you don’t read things properly , misunderstandings arise .

You now admit to supporting our troops .

Fine , so do I . Had you said that in the first place , this stupid argument wouldn’t have taken place , now would it ?

I think it time that you and hans stopped this childish game of trying to score points .

Get real and show some models or something , I at least feed the rest of the forum as much as I can , as well as general chat .

Mike

Let me make my stand very clear. I support our troops, it’s the current administration that I don’t support. And Tony, I agree with what you have said above 100%.

Warren, are my BNSF coal drags in yet?
They left Aristocraft yesterday. They should be in Spokane next Wednesday or Thursday. :)

Tony,

That sums it up very nicely.

Have you noticed how a certain “expert” consistently reverts to name calling when running out of valid arguments?

As Dave G puts it “No, I’m not allowed to call him that”.

Diddums

Notice how a certain brain dead runs to his friends for help every time he gets upset ? A tour of duty in the armed forces might make you use your own initiative instead of relying on others to do your dirty work . So much for your promise to ignore me .

Bringing this back to supporting the troops…

Just found out this morning that our son is
soon to recieve orders for another tour
in Iraq…
Ms. G. is pretty upset over it.
All we can do is hope he makes it
back home again safely.

Dave…

Dave , Gloria ,
That makes me even more sorry that the pacifist brigade are turning this into a rant .
I sincerely hope that your son has a safe tour .
At least , over there , he is in very good company–the best in fact, fellow soldiers . Can’t beat it .

Mike
