"The Penguin"....Custom Russell Plow

Dave you can just use B&Os’ X-28 as a basis for your single track design and your blade will be fine

Dave some times the snow gets DEEP!!!

Some times you have to go out and give it some help!

I can’t wait for snow But Charlie has another opinion!

Jon R {Snip}However the CVRR needs a "BATTERY" operated MOW geep 9(or an Aristo N&W high hood SD 45 if one is available for purchase :)
I can tell you from experience that the GP-9's are not good plow pushers. They were never tried on battery power though. Plowing was the primary reason the CVSRy picked up that high hood SD-45. It has the built-in trail-car battery plugs & switch plus it is heavy as all get out with the optional weight added.

I think I’ve run 2 years plowing via track power and 2 years plowing via battery power. I can’t say that there is any advantage to battery. Both methods have a real problem plowing deep snow on my curving grade. You’ll probably have no problems as you are almost dead flat.

What are you building the main body out of, and what is the orange in the cut out portholes? http://photoswest.org/cgi-bin/imager?00002623

Maybe these wil help they are both on northeastrailfan under plow for x-28 and wedge for x-19 The pic was posted as a link

YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!! Thanks for the pics…you must be patient men on the internet(or have more time than me) as I have never seen these pics before! Ken…I love the x-19 as it gives me ideas for the Penguin. Dave…The body is 1/4" Pvc board and the orange is a special mix seasonal color… “frost on the pumpkin is time for peter dunkin” Jon, We haven’t had a manly snow here since 96 but thinking perhaps the SD40-2 may make a good MOW on battery.

Dave, are you familiar with this site?

It usually has a picture of something you’re looking for.

Yes Ken I’m aware of the site but the problem is like all the sites I start searching out something and end up sidetracked as always! P.S. …my son(Zach) was fascinated with your snow plow when you were here and I was thinkin’ that would make a good Christmas present from dad. I know you told me how to aquire it but I don’t remember and will that fit on “his” Bachmann Tweetsie with some mods we(father son) can do together? Not concerned about prototypical aspects just wanna plow some snow with the boy…if we get any that is plowable this year! I see this and like the 22.5 degrees angles

Then this

And this… is why I revert back to “boobs” as they are simple and enjoyable!

And so on!!!

So I got a ladder built to the entrance door and a flanger for underneath but not liking it at all. I may cut the thing just rear of the cab and use the rest of the flat for other MOW attachments like the 2nd prototypical shot posted previously. Not sure yet just tinkering. I may just keep the Penguin theme and build another more universal piece of MOW equipment for the CVRR.

Need to get a tongue and teeth painted on that plow.

Bump for clean slate and page 3!

Clean slate. What’s that ?    You didn’t give us a new picture with that bump. So I dug up an old picture for you

Ralph, Please remember you posted a fat cat shot of yourself at graduation with your family. Now don’t think I haven’t edited your family out and deciding what to do with your picture! With that said…what does one do when they have party life neighbors that don’t go to bed till you get up for work? You get a rooster! All is good… Meet Roger!

You calling me fat? :D

Rooster’s cool. No rule against farm animals in your city?
If I have that problem with a neighbor…I’ve got a 10,000 watt PA I can use to wake them up.
Ralph

Really love that plow, smile every time I see it.

Sonovagun…if it ain’t Chicken George… I think I got the plow from Caboose Hobbies and just by laying it in front of one of my Annies it looks like it should fit. May be a bit wide for that loco, though.

Ralph,
Yes there is an ordinance but nothing against “rooster sitting” for a friend. Long story but 4 were here at one time. That rooster is Roger!

Jerry,
Thanks…that means a lot to me but I’m just not feelin’ it on this project. I’m gonna keep it’s theme but probably build some modern MOW equipment for the CVRR.

Ken,
A huge thanks! I really think the boy will enjoy that and so will I.

OK I’m done and off to the next project. Sure hope we get some plowable snow this year!

Nice!! That ought to take care of what ever comes your way. You know if you look hard enough you’ll more than likely find a prototype. Great build

Very cool.
Now if you’ll be so kind as to mount a video camera in the cab so we can watch it bust drifts
