The Mik 2026

I’m ready for whatever Dave throws my way. I may have been absent but I wouldn’t miss the MIK

Haven’t you heard Devon?

We were all told this months ago so we could do some in depth research and really, really think about it.

It’s create an 1890 era village, that includes a historic mine and a restaurant that serves fun foods.

Is “alley” a hint ??

Will the challenge be to build an alley for our RR towns or maybe we will be required to go to the nearest alley and go dumpster diving for bits and bobs to build something?

If so, can I substitute the dumpster at work? Lots of pallet bits in there… Cardboard too!

Isn’t it go time yet

This Thursday, though I’ll be watching Rose Parade floats disintegrating in the rain thats predicted

Just can’t wait till tomorrow night…

Looking forward to seeing what appears on the horizon. I highly doubt that I’ll be participating this year. My hobby time has shrunk significantly in the last week as my Dad’s health has gone down hill rapidly. But knowing that I almost never complete on time anyways gives me some false hope. :joy:

So it just occurred to me that the only Mik I ever participated in I built my first Amtrash baggage car. It was a 1300 series I believe, however I hated it and sold it.

It’s still in use today on a West Coast RR and the guy that owns it is a LSC Bot named John Miller …not his real name to protect his identity…

Well, at least this space will be quiet for the next 30 days, except for the MIK forums.

Craig,
Sorry to hear about you’re Dads health decline. Very much enjoyed my conversation with him when you two visited a couple years ago.

Yeah looking back all of us remember that summer as the last time Dad was normal. Last February he had a stroke, 11 days later a heart attack, then in April got diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia then in June was hospitalized for 2 weeks due to a sycosis episode which he’s still dealing with. Things aren’t looking up at the moment and he’s needing 1 on 1 care giving. Every doctor and nurse comments that he’s a complex case as pretty much his entire left hemisphere of his brain has some sort of damage. Completely different person.

Craig,
You, your family, your mom and dad, are shinning examples of Christ’s love. You mom and dad have extended courteousness and compassion to a stranger, me, without question. It will forever be remembered. God bless your dad and your family

Craig,

All I can offer are my heartfelt prayers.

Eric

Craig, thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

Craig, I’m so sorry to hear of your father’s decline. Our thoughts are with you.

Thanks guys. I didn’t mean to air my frustrations about life but just wanted to let everyone know why I might be missing out this year.

I certainly didn’t get a chance to stockpile my stash like I was planning… For some reason family comes before hobbies.
