I hope so Hollywood...It's all new to me and I hope I am going about it in the right way. Trying to take all of the advice from you guys here and maybe get it somewhat right.
Looks like your headed in the right direction. Don't worry about mistakes. We've all made them at one time or another, and we've all been where you've been. There's always someone around that can help with whatever problems you run into. You'll find things that work and things that don't work for your particular area. It's all part of the experience. Enjoy!

Thats more like it Randy Lol. Good start beofre you know it you will have trains running.

looks good… Progress is progressing…

I am going to be installing 4 AMS 250 switches next weekend. Anything I should do to them beforehand…weatherproofing the electrics etc ?

…grinning…

How many feet of track get laid this weekend?

It is a good feeling to get some track down

Hey Randy is it done yet?

LOL Shawn, something called ‘work’ has been getting in the way of any progress. Did manage to get a little done yesterday afternoon tho.
Will post a few pics this afternoon.

Apparently, you need to adjust your priorities, Randy.

Looking good, so far.

You and me both :D Ralph

Looking good so far Randy.

I noticed in one of your pictures that you are screwing your track down to your ladder base. Just a word of caution, only screw down the straight sections about every 4’ and let the curves float. That way when your track expands from the heat you won’t be breaking ties. I originally had code 250 track from Sunset Valley and I made the mistake of screwing the track down about every foot. Well, after the first summer most of my rail had broken out of the plastic tie plates because it had no place to expand to. Now I float all my track, even the upper line that I’m putting in now on my old ladder system. It makes a good base for ballast and track.

Keep up the great work.

Chuck

Good point Chuck. I plan on removing most of the screws after the ballast is laid, leave just enough to hold the curves at the beginning and end.
