The Evil Twins

I really kinda like the idea of the units made from LGB starter sets and powered tenders. Just my thoughts, I’ll yield to a more caffeinated mind. I do think that basic length of the starter coaches sounds about the right size. I also like the ribbed roof of those LGB coaches under the roof structure, it gives a beefy base look, even if there is a roof walk or other platforms for radiators, cooling and brake piping.

Old American Indian saying: “There is nothing on a rooster worth using for anything”

Period

Can you eat a rooster?

Of course you can eat roosters. That is what people do with them. If they are young, you can fry or roast them. If they have a little age on them you make soup, or chicken and dumplings, or put them in the crock pot.Aug 30, 2012

So Rooster says, he always gives clues of how he does his modeling by showing what he uses in the background and on the workbench. So, of the stuff I can see, he might use paper shop towels, pink foam rubber and something very toxic, because of the fan. I see the coffee cup and are those garden tools and then a battery drill motor? Going to be interesting.

Nothing fancy Ric, only working with materials on hand and basic simplicity. “HINT”…large rivets are a dulled tip on an 8d finish nail and small rivets are a 4d finish nail with the heads cut off so they will fit true into the chuck. Once again this is a “KITBASH” and like the American Indians I will try and waste nothing!

This post has been edited by Rooster: still looking for my spare set of balls that I thought were last placed in the upstairs bathroom medicine cabinet but I’m getting to the age where it’s difficult to go upstairs.

Ric wanted the roof easily removable so I installed pulls on each end that are slightly offset that way the roof will be un-reversible no matter how hard you try to push them in Ric. Still gotta figure out how I want to chain the pulls on end so they do not get misplaced during removal as Ric is getting older and things tend to get easily misplaced at his age. On second thought, perhaps I should chain down the roof period (with extra chain) that way it does not, doesn’t, won’t …“get lost during a heavy operation/carnage session when dinner is called/served”

Progress continues to make junk from junk. AGAIN this is a KITBASH not a SCRATCHBUILD with NO 3D printed parts or mass produced castings.

There is store bought styrene strips and brass which come from THE LOCAL HOBBY SHOP but a lot comes from a sign shop dumpster.

Still thinking and recycling what most call junk.

The tightened up tanks look cleaner

Agree with Hollywood, The tightened up tanks do look a whole lot better…

Keep going on, Son…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

PS: got to feed the boy encouragement even tho he still owes me 20 bucks…

Looking good Roo. Looks like Kaydee couplers and you have fabricated what look like working cut levers. This does not compute. Bachman Fn3 or Accucraft couplers will actually work with the cut levers, but I know Ric is (for some odd reason) a fan of Kaydee, even for operations. I could never get the hang of the screwdriver trick.

Jon,

The cut levers do move but they will be fixed in place when done. There is really no need for them to work “although they could very easily as you suggested”. There are more important things that must be installed first! Black and White abstract wall pictures (Soldier riding his horse into war) and a stripper pole are more important features currently!

For Hollywood as he usually requests seeing the other side of the model ^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Dad…at this point I really don’t care about the $20 as I’m back on my feet again with out your help!

“Stop tagging my builds” !

Thought I better catch up. We had the big “Winter Meet at Ridge Live Steamers” over the last 5 days and it is just winding down.

Really like the tanks and the air intakes or radiators. I agree about the location of the tanks. Look great!

Gonna re-purpose the undersides of the LGB coaches

Radiator mounts

Engine air intakes pinned and holes drilled in roof for mounting

Need to connect the intake duct plate underneath yet.

Added the aluminum feed water and return tubes along with the core to the radiators. Currently working on the exhaust and roof top air tanks.

The crew waves off for this segment. Sadly one of the members has lost most of his fingers as there is no safety yellow or white on the units YET.

Dialing OSHA… hehehe It’s kinda like charging interest on the 20 bucks he owes me… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

On another note, Nice work, Son… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Great!

Now change the topic to the “Iron Maidens” as I have met the “Evil Twins”.

This post has been edited by Rooster: Bruce Dickinson has his own 747 but you will have one up on him with the Twin Maidens!

We are all learning !

Revell does “Ed Force One” in 1:14 so we can do the Iron Maidens in 1:28 after you get me Rod Stewarts email so we can discuss modeling ! Remember you signed the contract!

Run to the hills !

Roosters like corners as most birds do.

I will be in my corner however this “kitbash” has been challenging!

Nice work!

…and NOW we know! (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Ah, and here I thought Grover was giving us the bird! Or his best Travolta pose… But thanks for clearing that up. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Great work Rooster! Really nice details… the air intakes and brass are just excellent.

[edited because I had misspelled rooster, sheesh]
