Well progress. I played hooky from work. Gonna give this a four day push to get it done on time.
Second wall done!

The clapboard looks amazing.
The last time I built something with clapboard siding I used my table saw with a dado blade set at a slight angle. It took many passes and fence adjustments to do a wall and it also had some mishaps but they only add to the look as does yours.
I was at first a bit disgusted at my lack of precision. But I agree with everyone’s comments that it adds age and realism. When painted and displayed they won’t be as glaring and I do think will actually enhance the look
I finally feel like I am making ground. Front wall siding on.
I have to say I really like the siding now that it’s against all the windows. Gives it some depth.
Bruce,
I think I may have to give in and print the railing.
That looks really good, Devon. Once you get a coat or two of paint it will look like it has been around for a long time.
Devon:
Do you have any idea what color the various parts of this building were?
I really like the windows and doors you printed. Redoing the first level was the right decision, imho. Even though it slowed you down, I predict happiness with the result.
Have you thought about maybe painting the doors a different color than the windows, just to help set them apart? Not drastic. Maybe a darker or lighter shade. Hard to imagine that they had bright red doors and vivid yellow windows.
Great job!
Dang, that sure looks nice! I bet the railing will just make it look better.
I think paint is gonna really make it come around
Not a clue. Wife wants browns, so the main structure will be a light beige sort of color. Haven’t decided on trim. I do like the idea of a slightly different color to offset the doors.
It will look better and can be printing while I work on other stuff
Looks good!
And this was all done while the railing was printing? Neat.
Well I haven’t started printing the railing. Needed to get the posts all glued up so I knew the distances I was working with. Will design and print them tomorrow.
Today was finishing the siding and cutting and assembling the balcony out of red wood. Just about done so I can print the railing now.
And I joined the injured booger picker club. Got lucky and had a close call. Stuck my left finger tip into the table saw. Just nicked it but close call.
Sheesh, I know they say not to do it but we have all done dumb things with power tools and equipment . Good thing it wasn’t any worse than a Nick!
When I did mine, I just wondered why this red line was suddenly on the wall! (not very swift!).
Okay so here is where I am with it. The finger is starting to throb and it’s dinner time so calling it a night.
Okay. I am feeling like I might make it if I can keep my fingers attached and not stuck together.
I tried Jim’s idea of a lighter shade of red on the doors. Still didn’t stand out enough. So I went a radical route and went with a contrasting color. Filled the windows in using Roosters foil tape on styrene backing and glued to the back of the window. I sure like that look for a simple and nice way to seal them and hide the blank interior.
Next up is to fix a small mistake and grind down the base a little so I can lay the wood planking. And then lay the planking. That should all get done today. And leave the roof and dormers for the final count down tomorrow.
Lookin FANTASTIC Devon!
I love how your siding turned out. And your window/door prints are super!
Lower decking is down. But I do have a question. How long does e6000 take until you can at least sand it and stain the wood? I have never used it before. Google says 24 to 72 hours. But hoping it’s dry enough to at least sand and stain.
Tonight I will work on designing railing and get them printing as well as make decals for the signage.
Well with Dave’s generosity of the extra day will be enough for me to finish I think. I have the railing parts and the fire hydrant printing now. I have the balcony on. I will work today to get the roof on today and then with the grace day I can work on details like signage.
In my use E6k is ok for hand sanding in a couple of hours, full strength in 24.
