If I was going to leave a forum after being on it for a while, I believe I would post something similar to what HJ did, as quoted below.
Whatever my personal opinion is/was, it is a polite, non-reactionary post, no spite, no mailice, no personal comments.
I personally think the thread has turned too personal. I guess if you say it’s ok to say “don’t go”, then logically you could also say “go, I don’t like you”… if you used simple logic, like the HAL-9000 computer.
BUT, this violates the “living room” policy and the “be nice” policy, and just plain normal courtesy.
What’s wrong with the old adage, "if you don’t have something nice to say, then don’t say anything?"

Dear Guests in Bob’s “living room for train talk”,
It has been an interesting and eventful Fall Session, October and November in particular. October since I decided to fully retire from the EMM business and November because of my retirement from LSC - notwithstanding my “ambiguous” status i.e. is it a “30 day suspension” or a “lifetime ban”?
Either way I used the past thirty days to give matters some serious thought. I received some PMs and some phone calls with advice and suggestions. Those were duly considered, along with the changes that have developed on LSC during the last 45 - 90 days.
Since it is Bob’s “living room” one may suggest improvements and/or changes, but that is all one can do. Then wait for eventual changes and improvements.
Considering all that, and having realized that one less forum to visit/participate in means correspondingly more time for other projects, the “30 day suspension” or “lifetime ban”(?) was/is like a nudge. Time to move on and enjoy other things.
Those who need specific answers to specific “problems” know where to find me and/or talk to me (email, phone, fora, video sites).
Cheers
