Suspension or ban?

Dear Guests in Bob’s “living room for train talk”,

It has been an interesting and eventful Fall Session, October and November in particular. October since I decided to fully retire from the EMM business and November because of my retirement from LSC - notwithstanding my “ambiguous” status i.e. is it a “30 day suspension” or a “lifetime ban”?

Either way I used the past thirty days to give matters some serious thought. I received some PMs and some phone calls with advice and suggestions. Those were duly considered, along with the changes that have developed on LSC during the last 45 - 90 days.

Since it is Bob’s “living room” one may suggest improvements and/or changes, but that is all one can do. Then wait for eventual changes and improvements.

Considering all that, and having realized that one less forum to visit/participate in means correspondingly more time for other projects, the “30 day suspension” or “lifetime ban”(?) was/is like a nudge. Time to move on and enjoy other things.

Those who need specific answers to specific “problems” know where to find me and/or talk to me (email, phone, fora, video sites).

Cheers

HJ

HJ: I can understand that our interests change over time and maybe we find something new that grabs our attention. I do know a way to get to you (TOC) so I hope you enjoy your new adventure.

Paul

Glad to hear from you. I love your modeling and your willingness to describe it.

I would like to encourage you to hang around. I consider you part of the family, and I for one value your expertise.

Ditto what Dave said. And besides there is only 3 of us on this forum that are from B.C. We have to stick together.

stay! it’s getting too boring here… I can use a partner in crime ha ha!

Greg

Hans…you will definitely be missed. It’s getting boring around here…you always contributed good knowledge and experiences.

As mentioned above…we are in great need of your added “Canadian Content”…not many of us here, but I see a friend, Steve McKenzie has just posted, so that is a bonus.!!

Hans, I truly have enjoyed all of your many interesting contributions here at LSC in regards to both your garden railroading and visits to the real railroading world. I have missed you absence and was hoping that you would return. Please don’t say goodbye forever. Maybe just so long for now…maybe…hope to see your posts again…

Well HJ, hopefully Bob can give you an answer through PM, us peasants don’t need to know, we just get nosey sometimes.

If he is posting, one could assume his “ban/suspension” is over. Whether he is allowed to stay on board is up to him and BM.

Say it isn’t so, Hans! I’ve learned much from you. I know there’s still much to learn.

What all those other guys said. I’ve always enjoyed your input, except for that one time you got into a tangle with some other fellow, then got suspended. That was just dumb, but everyone makes mistakes, even perfect guys like Greg and me. Don’t let this steal your joy, Hans! You have friends here. Even Bob, if the truth were told. Stick around, please, we love you!

What about that “other fellow”? Why isn’t he back too?

edit: I just got the answer from BM.

Thank you all, Gentlemen!

Sentiments duly noted and appreciated. I’m in the process of reconsidering the matter and taking a different approach.

While I have ignored many threads and posts in the past, I’ll refine/extend that practice a bit more.

In the 12 years of participating on LSC I have learned a lot from some excellent modellers, both from their approach and their mistakes, which they as willing share as the good results they achieve. No names required, they know who they are and my hat is off to them!

I have always been of the opinion that LSC is a site with basically one theme: trains, both model and/or prototype. That’s what I’m interested in: trains.
As far as I can see there is one section which has a different theme: Other Hobbies — I have quite a few of those.
Even if I repeat myself: I joined LSC because of my lifelong interest in trains and, since 2000, trains in the garden.
There are plenty of other fora, of all kinds, where the rest that makes the world turn around can(and should) be discussed.

Thank you!

As your new friend I hope you stick around as well. Thanks for the advice

Frankly, HJ, this place has been much more friendly without you. Your caustic, arrogant remarks that you try to disguise as “humor” have caused a lot of problems for quite a few. I, for one, hope that you stick with your original decision to stay away.

Uncalled for IMHO Steve. This is Bob’s ‘Living Room’.

How about everybody that has an axe to grind against another member just shut the hell up, instead of making me police every thread for stupidity? I ran out of patience a long while ago.

HJ,

As others have said, I too would like you to stick around. I have also benefited from your postings and research that some of us would otherwise not have the time to chase. I enjoy your videos as well, even tho they are not narrow gauge.

As I have said once before, written words have no inflection. Statements made totally 'tongue in cheek" face to face and heard that way, may not be interpreted that way in writing. I endeavor to keep my phraseology as neutral as possible. Not particularly caring if I insult someone, I just don’t want the backlash HERE.

Given the opportunity, I would pose the same recommendation to Mike. Dad always said “If you can’s say something nice, shuddahellup!”

My tuppence.

“30 day suspension” or “lifetime ban”(?) was/is like a nudge. Time to move on and enjoy other things."

I suspect it was more than a nudge.

Unfortunately, for me, your decision to no longer contribute to this forum is a loss. Your German translations and reports are valued as you, the “Sage of LGB,” reported the saga of LGB and the apparent upstart PIKO. Helpful, was your ongoing product analysis.

In leaving your “time out”, please give a second consideration to also leaving our ever diminishing world of large scale – it was bigger with your contributions.
