Surgery pending

Well, I’m waiting for the day they perfect head transplants. Imagine being attached to an 18 year old body  Better yet, your wife

Good luck Steve.

Jon, Your head would look rather odd attached to your wife's body  Ralph

hi

Hi Steve,
Good luck, hope you have a speedy recovery

Chuck

Good luck with the surgery!

I’m getting some oral surgery done myself, on the 22nd, to replace an old, “permanent” bridge that was close to failing. The regular dentist already cut up the bridge, the surgeon will be yanking out a wisdom tooth it was attached to and putting in a couple implants where the bridge had been.

BTW, I’ve reached the age now where a lot of these doctors look to me like they’re barely out of high school.

Its a tough choice. Do I go with the old doc with all the experience, or the young doc, just out of school, who has learned all the new techniques?

Decisions, decisions.

Oh yeah, go with Doc Shakey and the shot of whiskey, over the young guy with new techniques and less pain and recovery time. Just convince yourself you really enjoy pain and it won’t be near as bad.

Steve---- I like Golding’s ideas, though he forgot the part about biting down on the rawhide chew toy… I hear that works well, and saves on anesthesia costs. Better yet---- why not let Barry O. put in a kit?? The only problem is that you will crack off three-chime farts at grade crossings…
I’m also surprised that they still make parts for your long-obsolete model.

Friends are wonderful to have especially when facing anxiety. My advice is get drunk and stay drunk until you are in recovery.

Yes, I fully agree! At least then Steve has someone he can relate to. :stuck_out_tongue:  And he can reminisce about the good old days and how things just don’t seem the same. On that rawhide, he should be able to steal on of his dog’s toys, shouldn’t he?

I thought I’d just bite down on a bullet. That’s what I did when I had my leg cut off in 1864. :stuck_out_tongue:

I like the idea of staying drunk, though. That certainly has merit.

I hope the human race hasn’t evolved so far since your model shoulder came out that the doctor, regardless of his age, won’t understand its workings. Sounds like it’ll be a long process what with studying extinct fossils and all…

Better bring a whole jug along. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I did have to go to the antique store to find the parts. One was broken, but Barry Olsen said that he could make a replica in time. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m bringing two jugs. I figure that I’ll have to share…

Hey, Steve have they done you yet? Wish you the best on this little operation. I do know about lost time on the RR. It took over 2 years to get the knee done so I could work!

One for you and one for the surgeon?

A little styrene and some Weld-On 16 and you’ll be good to go, Steve. I gots a metal plate and some wood screws in my foot (cars and walls don’t mix) and I stumble along right smart. BTW, I was stuck TDY at Naha, back in '65. Mend quickly.

Steve-
Your contributions to LSC are welcomed and a good read. Here’s hopes you will still be able to communicate with us without pain.
Best,
Wendell

Hope everything went well with the surgery today!

What Ray said, hope everything got put back in its proper place

I just read a booklet on that same subject.
What were we talking bout, oh yea, maybe I can help in the O R.
I don’t charge anything.
I have some new tools I’d like to try out.
I`ll send a good luck before we get started.
Good Luck Steve!

Steve, I hope it all went well. You getting it done through the VA?
