Rooster, You make it look so easy Some time you should record all the cussing that goes on during the build to make me feel better Ralph
Ralph, I have to say that the Rooster is doing some mighty fine work here. Even if they are Amtrash! I am very impressed with what he is turning out.
Thanks Guys!
Ralph…not much cussing going on as I enjoy it and I have the process figured out so it’s been going rather smoothly. (there was a little cussin in the beginning)
Some think the 2 cars I’m currently showing are already finished however I’m showing real time progress as I always have. They are just going much smoother the 2nd time around. I will confess I did have a few things that I made extra’s of on the first batch however I’m making more of what I used so I will have replacement parts.
I know that casting was discussed but if I’m gonna do castings it would be of the finished cars and the pieces that can be taken off of them which are rather large. I want to make 2 more cars after these 2 are finished and then I’m done with the consist with exception of a 1700 series baggage which could be used with either of my AMTRASH consists!

Quit whining, the silver platter is NOT going to appear.Greg
It might?
If it does you will only see it here on LSC!

That’s really fine work Rooster!
looking good Rooster. I think that brings the count to ‘0’ so I’m good to go
Beauties.
With the sleeper and diner, now all you need is the lounge
Is that Sleeper #32040? Superliner II Sleepers are #32070 - #32118.
Is that Diner #38070? Superliner II Diners are #38039 - #38068.
Matt
I knew you would pick up on the #'ing …the first digits are correct for the cars (I think) but the last 2 digits on each car have a meaning for me as they are the ages of family members including a now deceased dog at the time the decals were done(last year) …with exception of the Transition car (matches the F40) …It’s a hobby so I try and have fun with it in whatever way I can.
BTW thank you for all the pics posted… and your help/guidance in the proper direction on these cars! They ain’t dead on but I’m very happy with them and the modeling system/knowledge I have learned so far in making them is great!
I love this hobby!
I have a lounge and another Sleeper in mind (pre planned decals for them as well ) then that’s it
You should run those somewhere special
My suggestion is to set up a track and run them in front of the Washington Monument
Ralph
Keep him straight Matt, and don’t let anything get by.

The funny thing is, if the diner was 38040 and the sleeper was 32070 they’d be fine
#32070 is also the sleeper Alabama…in the phase IV paint scheme. The very first Superliner II sleeping car.
I bet if these would sell well if David made a few extras. He’s done such a beautiful job on them.
Make one of these, Dave. Show us what you can do!

Would this be ok John as that car really doesn’t fit into the consist?

OK,
I’ll settle for that car.
I made my own dome car, WAY back before anyone did streamliner cars. Had a wood form, heated clear plastic in the oven till it sagged down over the wood form. Made all the cars that way, and my McKeen car and trailer.

Found a guy online that designed and 3d printed a super dome. He also made an observation to go along with it. Here is his website with a couple more pics and some details. http://www.kevinknox.com/customizing.html

I would love to have a pair of these! Especially since the cedar rapids and super dome owned by the friends of 261 are often seen on the tail end of the empire builder.
