Stones Mosaic

My plan as well Shawn, I was going to get a clear sealer for mine.

Something else I was thinking, cause I noticed that the blocks looked like Limestone pieces, which will absorb water. I thought of gluing a piece of styrene to the bottom edge of the blocks so there would be no absorbtion from the ground. Any thoughts?

I would be afraid of the water getting in between and then taking longer to dry out. Im just going to apply a sealer to the bottom as well. Maybe a double coat or something.

My layout is on raised benchwork, so I have about 24" of clearance between any structures and the ground…and the roundhouse I got in mind…would be in excess of 12 incshes high and 40 onches long on one wall…thats gonna be a lot of glue. I had also planned on doing a timber frame for strength and support, with the coroplast/block walls connected to it…

You might want to try using the grout instead of glue, in that case. They sell all kinds of different grouts in the same section the stones were. And possibly PT plywood as a sub structure. Something that size is gonna be heavy no matter what you use, though, unless you plan to build it in place.

Geee didn’t you have to replace plywood on your enginehouse? But then again I’m not going to put it directly on the ground. And yes…its either going to be built in place, or subassemblies assmbled in place…

I didn't actually have too. It was still in pretty good shape. Since the Trimplank was thinner, I did it more to recess the stone so it looks like the stone wall is under the wall instead of beside the wall. And I also figured it wouldn't hurt to keep the moisture from wicking up into the wood and having all that expansion and contraction.

That was a great find Shawn. When we built the viaduct on the club layout my wife and I cut 100s of “bricks” on our rock saws!

Ya gots a space between “bridge” and “rails,” Doug. Bob doesn’t like that.

it’s not the space, it’s the / mark… all my pictures posted have spaces in their names…

Nope - it’s the space. Spaces are OK depending on how you create the link. the / is OK too. Just means Doug has a sub-directory.
Jon, I see now, your talking about the space after the / mark…

I was getting cornfused, cause when I rename a picture, I always have spaces to separate words in the picture name…
Basically, the spaces you are referring to are in the command line, to get to the picture storage location…

I think its all in how you bring pictures into your post. Copy and Pasteing file names with spaces is a problem unless you then edit and replace all spaces with %20 (the HTML code for a space) I don’t have a paid freight shed, but if it might work differently then MyFiles. Clicking on the filename that has spaces in MyFiles gives you a broken link. If you go back and add replace the spaces with %20 it will display. Here’s a test… If I just click on the picture in MyFiles that has a space I get this… http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/jrad/_forumfiles/Ken Face.jpg
http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/jrad/_forumfiles/Ken Face.jpg

If I edit that and ad %20 where the space is between Ken and Face (shown above) it works…

GAH! Dont do that so early in the morning!

No spaces anywhere Andy. As Jon said, the spaces in your file name are replaced with %20, most likely by the software you use. Ralph freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/andyc/Bluestone%20Southern%20Freight%20Cars/New%20Evans%20Paint%20job%20pic%201.jpg

OK, guess I asked for it, but your picture is much more flattering than mine

All I know is, when I put a picture into my freight shed here, the picture name has spaces, like ““David McCurdys railroad Pic 31.jpg””…

When I bring the picture up in the Window, Largescalecentral site adds the %20 to all the spaces in the Http: block in the tool line… All I do, is copy & paste that Http: line to the where ever I want the picture to be…

You computer guru’s probably know a better way, but to me, what I do is so simple and easy…

Many years ago, I was told ““spaces”” didn’t allow a picture to be posted, so many years ago, I made all my ““spaces”” a " _ " mark in my picture names…

The "underscore" symbol works to "fill" spaces ;) Ralph

Yeah, Ralph, I knew that.... But, I haven't used the ""underscore"" in years.... I just use spaces...

:) Well the computer fairy or some software is adding the %20 for you. But I don't see how the LSC forum software would do it for you, and nobody else ;) Ralph
