Large Scale Central

Southern Pacific GE 50 Ton „Little Giant“

Hi I am new to this forum and I would like to introduce my self and show my latest project. My name is Eric, I live in Switzerland grew up in Holland and am interested in modelling narrow gauge large scale railways for more than 10 years and do have quiete a collection of scratch built models from several courtries. The GE 50 Ton model is made from polystyrene sheets. I did use 2 aristocraft U25B motor trucks. The model is not ready yet, but I think you can see how it will look like. In the past I made already several SP narrow gauge freight cars. If you are interested to see photos, please have a look here; http://largescaleworld.npage.de/southern-pacific-ng_3500013.html

From the book „Southern Pacific Narrow Gauge Locomotives and Freight Equipment" I got a drawing and some usefull photos, I am still looking for photos of the cab interior. I think that the interior of the GE 70 Ton switcher might be similar, but am not sure about that. If someone could help me with this I would be very grateful. Also I would like to know if someone could tell we what sound unit could be used for this engine. Kind regards from Switzerland Eric http://largescaleworld.npage.de/

Welcome aboard Eric, and very nice work…

Very impressive work, would love to see how you did the door hinges

REALLY nice work. Love it

Sweet!!!

Why oh why didnt Bachmann make this instead of the centercab, even I might have bought one. Great model, great subject, looking forward to seeing it painted up.

But I used to have a center cab, US Navy engine at Pensacloa, used to move tank cars of Jet fuel and general store on and off the Base. The fun part was on the front platform going over the trestle a Byou!

Good question. And I concur with your "Great model, great subject, looking forward to seeing it painted up"

RYM has an O scale version in brass, for std gauge or On3. I’ve been telling Rich there is a market for an F scale (1/20.3) version.

Nice build with some great detail here Eric.
Welcome aboard.

Thanks for your question Mark. I made the hinges from evergreen 080 rod profiles, very simple but it looks nice to me.

Welcome Eric! That’s a very nice looking locomotive. Do you have any pictures of it under construction?

Welcome!
I agree with the comments, fantastic work, great models on your website too!

Alec

Excellent! We love pictures here!!!
Welcome aboard Eric!

Holy Cats!!! Thats some great work…will have to get my NG Diseasel Project going some day

Very nice Eric. I love steam, but being a kid when 1st. and 2nd gen. diesels were everywhere leaves as soft spot for them as well.

Welcome aboard! That’s some great work on your loco!
