Large Scale Central

Sources for 1:20 scale figures

I need to get a population on my little railroad and I’d like to find some sources for some people. I model in 1:20 but I think figures upto 1:29 in certain cases will work.

I really dont want to build my own atm. I just dont have the time. So I want to find some already made.

Here is a list of figures I have found:

scalehumans.com - Richard has quite a few
warriorrunlocoworks.com - I found 9 here.

That is about all I found. Some help would be appreciated.

Bob has a few resin castings if you wish to paint your own.

www.slmonline.com has some nicely done… of interest.

There’s three over at Scale Art Models - http://www.scaleartmodels.com/page7a.html

If you’ve a taste for whimsy, and who doesn’t, these folks just might suit at up to 3 inches tall, they may be closer to 1:24. I have a set of these for use in other projects, and they’re pretty good. http://www.mcphee.com/shop/products/Horrified-B%2dMovie-Victims.html

Oh, THOSE I love.

I say we start a “pool” and see how long it takes before the “Flesh Eating Zombies” & the “Horrified B-Movie victims” turn up on Victor’s Pizza Layout

The zombies glow in the dark, if that makes a difference.

As a huge fan of “The Walking Dead” I had to order the Zombies and the “victims”! they will be surrounding my Aristo farm house on my new layout soon!

My sister does voices, well, groans and screams, for that show. We add the B-Movie victims to Aunt Laura’s xmas layout.

Here are several choices:

As you already pointed out, LSC member Richard Kapuaala sculpts, produces and sells a line of really great figures in several scales including 1:20. Richard’s sculpting focus includes historical personages. See:

Railroad Avenue has a number of really nice painted 1:20 figures. Some such as “Flo,” a woman with a toddler, a baby in arms, and another child ‘on the way,’ are really unique. Same with the reclining “Jethro.” Together they could make an interesting scene!! See:

My most recent purchase is a 1:20 scale unpainted female ‘engineer’ from a Chinese supplier advertising on Ebay. They have a line of highly detailed, accurate to scale figures, but mostly modern and / or military. The Asian ideal of American women is very apparent! Both delivery and quality were excellent. See:

Do an internet search for “Fine Folk.” AFAIK they are no longer produced, but occasionally show up. Really detailed line of resin figures in interesting prototypical poses.

I think it was Richard Smith who had a really great piece on figures for 1:20.3, and a couple of photos that incorporated everything from “Lurch” in 1:20.3 (probably the biggest guy I’ve ever seen in that scale) down to 1:29 (or was it 1:32) and it all looks right, because it’s arranged properly. Can’t remember if it was here or the other site … but it was a good read nonetheless.

PS. Those of you wondering about my other thread/project it stalled for a zillion reasons, but I hope to have more up soon!

Hi It was Richard Smith that put two photos onto MLS. If Richard has mislaid them I have them and will put them up with his permission.

Yours Peter.

Ozark Miniatures carries the Fine Folks line of people.
