Took a few photos out on the layout today…then it stared to rain
Mate that looks like a nice setting there - well done
I can see why the elk like to come see what’s new. Dappled light through the trees gives a nice mood to the scene.
Very nice! I really like your model of the general store.
What a great setting. I like how the horse ranch made the best use of space along that curve I just hope the engineer on that big K27 refrains from blowing the whistle thru there.
Another thing that caught my eye is that little travel trailer you made. I think you need a few more of those.
Matt,
Very nice! thanks for sharing
Don
Nice railroad and layout, well done… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
Very nice I like the hand laid track.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
This would be your Anaheim address, right Matt? Ha ha just kidding. How on earth did you find your way to Bayfield? It isn’t exactly on the beaten track by any stretch. I don’t think I’ve ever been near there and I’ve lived here all my life…maybe Durango.
Great looking layout. I agree, the track looks fantastic…hope all the rain we’ve been having hasn’t washed anything away.
Wow! Very very nice! Nice and “clean”
The “painted” train…with the Silver Vista. Also added coach 321 this year.
Train consist:
- Loco 473
- Combine 212
- Coach 320
- Coach 321
- Observation 313 (Silver Vista)

Bayfield is the post office. But we are really out at Vallecito Reservoir. About a 30-45 min drive just to get to Bayfield. So even further from that beaten path.
Lots and lots of rain this year. Most in the summer since I’ve been coming out here starting back in 1991. But things are also the most green I’ve ever seen. Even our artesian well is overflowing meaning the layout river is also flowing.
The track does fairly well even with the rain. But the buildings get messy from dirt splashing. However most of the buildings are protected with inverted storage bins. Keeps them pretty clean.
Looks great Matt. I think you need to make another video. You are well overdo
looks good Matt.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
Matt, how do you remove the pine needles? I see the town and the right of way perfectly clear.
Also, I’m surprised, but the Town of Bayfield actually has watering restrictions? Wow.
Greg
Is that Silver Vista scratchbuilt, or was somebody selling those at some point?

Lots of work. But I pick up the needles and seed pods by hand. Only way that best clears the town sites and right of way. Tried brooms, rakes, etc… but by hand works the best.
Bayfield could easily have water restrictions. Only 6900’ elevation. Pretty dry, and usually hot. Well dry and hot compared to where we are at 8,000’ and in the mountains. No ponderosa pine trees either on Bayfield…to dry and too low in elevation.

Scratchbuilt. It was made to match the scale of an LGB coach.
I made the car during the summer of 2002 when we were allowed back home after being evacuated two weeks due to the Missionary Ridge fire.
