Well I guess you can’t edit a post and add picture, If it can be done please advise. As I posted earlier I am continuing on with my RR I have built 2 sections of ladder one for a Y and a straight piece. The Y is a shitchcrafters #6 , the quality is outstanding. I have 2 one for each end of the line. I need to find the article on installing the springs for auto-switching.

Attempting to build a “limber” to go with the O.M. 12 pounder. I saw a re-enactment shoot with cannons from 186-'s. The colors were a pale OD green and black. I’ll try to replicate that scheme.

Trying to replan the track route to better accomidate a Hartland 4-4-0 and a wild west theme instead of Austria. But till winter eases and the snow thaws, its confined to the arm chair and pad and pen. Mike

Dave, Are they expecting trouble along the D&RGW? That’s a neat cannon and casson flat car load!!

Thanks Dave, the Indians are restless.

The natives are restless tonight!

I’m in the midst of building a 2 stall backwoods engine house large enough to accomodate 2 consolidations.
It’s bass wood treated with brown, I’m using post and beam construction and incorporating toothpicks for pegs. The 24" length of the bass wood is shorter than the overall length, so I’m making scarf joints by hand.
The first one was a little iffy, but the rest are easy and they really look good. Of course once everything is stained you probably won’t even notice them, but I’ll know they’re there.

It’s nearly the end of summer in Australia. A few things were accomplished on the RR:

Trestle built by cutting up and bending the grille from an old aluminium screen door.

New trestle built from old PC stands in foreground; original from last summer, straightened out, is behind it. The gray steel is the start of the ramp we use to test how much our locos can pull up a 6.5 deg grade.

Ramp’s end. All the steel in the ramp (including supports not visible in the photo) comes from cast-offs headed for the garbage tip. The jade plants to the left of the ramp are highly drought-resistant; all plants come from cuttings.

Added a path next to the shed, parallel to its clone on the opposite side of the lawn, all slabs deployed from other parts of the yard. Grass is growing well. The only items in these photos that cost $$$ were top dressing and fertiliser for the lawn, and paint for the aluminium trestle.

Dave, your railroad appears to be nothing but garbage! And I mean that as a compliment!!! Nice, I really love the idea of the screen door trestle and may use this as a way to anchor my track in gravel, ingenious! Summer may be ending for you, but I see it headed my way and need to get busy (What is winter for you anyway, no freezing I assume?).

Dave,
You have done me one better. I thought my RR was low budget.
Free and “green” too. Good job.

I just polished off the final draft of my figure-sculpting article! Looks like it’ll be a four-part series.

Our club meeting/open house went very well on Saturday. I didn’t have the BBT loco yet, but the Aristo RS3 was up to the task, pulling a nine-car train non-stop for over four hours. In case anyone’s interested, I have a few pics from the meeting:

Before I can jump on another RR project, I still have some tedious non-railroad, non-fun tasks ahead of me for the next couple days.

Chuckle! My reputation as a miserable old skinflint is the stuff of legend!

No, never gets to freezing in Perth. Would easily pass for spring in upstate New York.

Dave, that is too cool.
