So watcha work'n on?

Anyone got any neat winter projects going (Train wise)?

I am currently “bashing” two of my old Lionel GP’s (Conrail and Seaboard). The first two diesel offerings from Lionel were two motor only (1 per truck). They do not pull very well. The frames are not meant to handle the dual motor trucks of the later models.

I was going to cut and grind the old frames to make them fit some 2-motor trucks I picked up on ebay when it occurred to me…my two “dummy” units (UP and BN) had the frames I need. So this weekend I am going to start a double transplant operation and “swap” frames. My “dummies” will get the single opening frames but it won’t matter a bit as they have no motors. I will add weight to the newly powered GP’s and with a little luck they should be strong pullers like the others.

I’d post pic’s but I don’t think I can (or can I?).

How’s 'bout you…anything on the bench?

Hey…I think I put this in the wrong forum…any chance the “yard master” can switch it on to the right track?

I will be wrapping up another AW install tomorrow.
Then I need to get my thru-truss bridge finished. It’s all done except for the brass trusses. I still haven’t bought a die holder.
After that, I will prolly start weathering the new Accucraft cars.

I’ve been working on 3 EBT style steel boxcars - the semi-kit that Bob offers.

Need to put the couplers on then get a few castings to finish.

Its in the Model Building forum…

…plus I have one “special” project on my Portable Layout, which shall remain quiet for now

O.K., perhaps I'm a bit slow on the uptake...AW?

Well, more or less “train wise”
I have been scratch building 2 Catarpillar 60’s in 1:20 scale for my
South fork Timber Company. Just about there, finishing the winches now
then have one cable dozer assembly to build. Then paint, decals, and weathering.

I have been busy remodeling/redecorating one of the bedrooms with new paint walls and ceiling, new fan, shelves, etc. Also been digitalizing the couple of TVs that were off the grid. All this so I could have a permanent modeling space -

Now to get working on my projects! -Brian

Train-wise, it’s been a slow winter. Haven’t done much except start a couple of turnouts for the future expansion and ordered some more rail for that project. Like Brian, I’ve been redoing a couple of bedrooms with new trim, paint and closet doors that got started last winter. Mostly been busy running back and forth to FL since the weathers been so lousy…

Mornin’, all - I’m in the late stages of building two of the GR plans flats and low-sided gons - putting the zillion rivets in the stakes at this very minute, in fact. Sadly, I’ve lost a pair of AccuCraft arch-bar trucks somewhere…I know I had them somewhere…

BTW - it’s a pain building from these plans - all the model wood in my local hobby-store is metric-sized, so I use the nearest I can find. I sent Fr Fred and Steve F a couple of pics of the progress so far.

Still working on the “Valley Power” plant. I’ve now progressed to the sidings and coal dump. It seems to be going slow.

Train shows have occuppied a bunch of the train allocated time, but all that is left of that is the ECLSTS at the end of March.

Ditto, LGB 0-4-0

When I have a chance:

The idea is to have a proximity sensor so when something is in front of it, the door opens and a figure peeks out.

Train-wise, I have to button up the K27 RCS/Sound installation (yea, its been on my desk for 8 months or so). Other than that, I’m working on some back-end bits for LSC, to clean up the site and make it (hopefully) faster.

Finishing up a modular layout and tryin to squish batteries, AW and a P5 into a B-mann porter

I did finish up the AMS stuff I got on sale. A little weathering, painted the roofwalks to look unpainted ;), and some working gladhands. Added them into TrainOps.

Still on the Challenger, posted a pix of the smoke unit on my column on the C build. Been working on the drives and about ready to start on the pipework. Doing some painting also.

I’ve been building some log bunks as described in the Jan issue of GR. So far, I have two completed, and the parts for about 6 more ready for assembly.
