Matt pretty much covered the back yard last night with his machine experiments. He wanted to be sure that the real 6-12 that’s coming in about an hour sticks real good!
There might be some plow picture opportunities tomorrow, and maybe a live steamer run if the new radio shows up and I can get all the R/C gear back in it quickly.
Were supposed to get ice on Sunday. Souther New England sucks for snow. Every time we get some it’s followed by rain. Makes for very hard pack snow that’s impossible to plow with the trains.
Tom, you call that snow?

Jon,
So far this storm should produce ALL SNOW!!!. At least here in Plantsville, CT. I know that you guys on the shoreline usually get a mixture. At this point there is about 4 inches here and MORE TO COME!!! Saying 10 to 14 inches in Central and Northern CT when the storm ends.
The weathermen say that the storm on Sunday should produce more rain and ICE!!! AAAANNNNNNDDDD, another storm for xmas eve…Gotta’ love New England!!!
Hi Dave -
Nice to see you posting here. I’m in NEW Fairfield, just north of Danbury. About 30 miles North of the sound. We should get all snow today, maybe ending as sleet late tonight. Yup Sunday they say there will be mostly rain here.
My office is 2 miles from Downtown Danbury. I needed to go downtown around noon today to work on a printer. Took me 75 minutes to drive two miles. I took the long way back and it only took 45 minutes :o I had no problem with the roads, just the stupid people trying to drive in it with no snow tires and no clue.
And yes, I love New England, about 9 months of the year
Looks like the snow has ended in NW NJ. We got about 9 inches. tried to get the trains out but by the time I got home there was a good 5 inches on the tracks. I tried to get the train to plow but just was not enough power to push the snow. I tried clearing the track by pushing the plow around the track. After i had the tracks cleared I tried running the engine but the tracks kept getting iced over plus the snow was coming down so heavy i coud not keep up with it. Now my layot is burried. Guess battey would be the way to go.r
About 8" so far here, and coming down like hell. Supposed to snow till about midnight, then flurries through tomorrow afternoon. Then more snow Sunday, maybe 6-8 more inches.
About 4" here in central Nebraska. Ran the Eggliner with it’s plow-only one I have, too puny though!

Sigh…snow…
It was almost 70 degrees here yesterday. 62 degrees today. The cold front all week has stayed to the north of us. For all the rain we’ve had in the past week…we’d be buried if it had been cold.

Sigh......snow......
Tomorrow, we are suppose to have a high of 17 degrees and a low about 5 degrees. Many years we have been sailing around here this time of year. Gorbal Warming still has a few flaws to work out.
I can deal with snow, rain and even the cold. Its this d*mn wind I can’t stand. blew the trains off the track again tonight.
19 mph out of the northwest right now and suppose to be up to 40 mph tomorrow. Should be a fun day at the marina. Thank God the water is down and things are sitting relatively protected.
Sorry you are struggling with the display, it was great when we were there.

40 MPH off the water and its only going to be 19 for a high. BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
I’ll be home in a warm house, drinking coffee and thinking of you Ric.
One word of advice. Longjohns.
0644 temp 8.6 and dropping, wind 16 out of the west. As much as possible I will be doing the same. When it gets this cold, we batten down and watch from inside, unless there is some damage that can be prevented from getting worse by immediate action. About 100 boats still in the water. Wind to strong to allow much ice, but if it quits blowing tonight, water will turn hard. Many times, when it is like this, you hope owners have acted responsibly. Some times you just shake your head, take a sip of coffee, and add it to the list of stupid things that you never would think would happen.
The crappy weather is moving in here today. Winds up to 45mph. Lows of 15 degrees tonight and high of 27 degrees tomorrow.
Quite the change from the 60 degree days we had this week.

“Gorbal” warming indeed
The wife and I just took a walk to our local market (about 1/2 mile) to get the Sunday paper. Snowing hard and about 3 inches on the ground at the moment. The forecast is for rain on xmas eve, which is a good thing for me, as we having the family over. Some have to drive a fairly good distance. Then a warm up later in the week with rain likely on the weekend.
My wife thought that it would be a good idea to get the wedgeplow out and clear the tracks on GR. BUT, with a nice warm woodstove going, I think I’ll stay inside and decorate the xmas tree that we cut down yesterday!
Got in the truck to go get my coffee and the outside temp was reading LOL.
Was glade the old Deisel started for me. Looks like no trains tonight.
I could only hope for global warming.
