It has just barely started here. We might get 18 inches - all fluff, no rain, which is the way I like it. Before it got dark I inspected the track removing stray rocks and twigs. It appears all the ice from the last storm melted away, so I might be able to run a plow tomorrow if it’s not too deep.

dusting last night maybe some more on Wednesday and Thursday. that would be nice we could have a white Christmas. No plow for the railroad but I do have a small (sandbox) sheval to clear the line by hand.
I am in SE Massachuseets. Weathermen said that we are going to get the worst of the snow and wind for Massachusetts. Typical Northeaster.
Snow Blower, check. Is it working, check! Purchase of enough munchies for 3 months, check! Snow shovels, check! Trip to train store, check! Oh and beer, check!

David Russell said:Not a chance. I came down with a nasty cold Friday afternoon. The Troegenator isn't touching it, so I switched to Baileys & Coffee. The plow crew will be lucky to see me before noon :D Still no snow yet even though Radar says it's been over us for 2-3 hours now.

Heavy snow here 3 inches so far, worst is yet to come. Looks like parts of south jersey are going to be the jackpot with 30 plus inches. Dolph PA recorded 30 inches so far.

She said that when she retired she wanted to move to Alaska, spend the winters up here and the summers stateside. I told her that is exactly in reverse and that NOBODY does that. I pointed out that surviving for weeks at a time at minus 55 with only 4 hours of daylight and few friends around is not most people's idea of what they want out of life. She REALLY took offense to that and told me I was being hostile to her. I was ONLY trying to help. People with attitudes like that are NOT survivors in this kind of environment. As much as I love snow I dont think I can handle it up by you. Ron you have to join in the fun and post some shots from alaska. Would love to see them as well.
At least for all of you, your snow will be gone BEFORE May !
In any case, I will see what I can do about some winter pictures. I was taking some the other day when my camera battery froze up . . .

I just have to get through the next 2.5 hours at work with no accidents or lost hunters and Im off until the new year.
This latest series of snow storms is going to KILL last-minute Christmas business for many retailers. This comes at a particularly bad time for the retail industry.Dang, now that I’m retired, I don’t even get Holidays.
I know the feeling. Since I retired TGIF no longer means a thing and saturday and sunday are just another day. Even over the hump day (wednesday) stirs no emotions. I’m seriously looking at going back to work away from the house.

The lady needs to do some research. Summer in Alaska on the lower part is like summer in the lower 48. I lived in Whittier for a couple of years when my stepdad was stationed there when it was an army port in 54-55
and the summers were just like California. Used to run around in a pair of shorts.

Summer IS the best time to be in Alaska. As a rule, summer in the interior is VERY nice without being uncomfortably hot. The typical range is mid 60s to mid 80s, with June and July being the most ideal months for visiting.
Her thinking makes no sense to me.

Hey some body else got to plow as well!
Good shots in the link and good to see more plowing getting done
Maybe that woman belongs in Alaska during the winter!
We also missed the worst of it. Ended up with 4 inches. I got the track cleared but the wind kept blowing the snow back onb the tracks and then they would ice up. Will try tomorrow to run
