I'm sure they deserve you as a customer and you deserve them as a supplier. :D That's all on the matter!

That was fun!

…and no support for 40 years of previous product Stateside?

Yup. Left holding the bag of $%$#. As each LGB loco I own becomes more and more unrepairable, they will be shelf queens. Oh well. it was only money, but my hard earned money!

You can bet if a nuf money is made with the replacement end of the deal, somebody will get the rights or just make a replacement part. Just keep dusting the queenies off, it just about the money, think baby steps, you’ll be fine.:0

I would write a letter to Märklin if I were you guys!

So “gtrainman” is the president of Silvergate? No? Maybe the marketing lead? What may be significant is he (or she) is the now THE person wishing to communicate directly with readers of MyLS. That’s an improvement. So who is the “gtrainman”? In particular, the moniker is used over a name and company function. No matter. What counts is if we will have confidence in any announcements from “gtrainman” per PIKO’s products? Say a “new” loco or ???

Meanwhile…
John Joseph Sauer becomes the focus of any posting…again…and again.

Anyone willing to offer a rationale for the continual focus (unfortunately it appears negative) on this person – especially when unrelated to the posted topics?

Thanks,
Wendell

JJS,
for someone who says another always has to get in the last word, then you are indeed a little Jack Russell terrier, always biting at the ankles. To make an impact you really need to provide something a little more substantial than teeth marks around the ankles. Next time aim a little higher, if at all possible.

It is certainly fortuitous for you that Silvergate will be able to repair any locomotive you have plus provide all the services that they are denying others. You certainly must be a favoured customer, or is it payback for the last two years of misguided loyal service. Terriers are indeed very loyal dogs, although very noisy. Like dogs you prefer to run in packs, as, on your own, you are out of your depth.

Wendell,

Are you kidding?

“gtrainman” is Ken Fillar, of Pittsburgh, Pa; longtime Red Box Brigade leader. Certainly he’s to be trusted, at least as far as possible new items are concerned. Different story with repairs or defects i.e. he tried his darnest to keep the Mikado drive train mess as quiet as could be. It was just send it to Sandy Eggo, they’ll take care of it; no need to know what is actually wrong or what the symptoms are, trust me. Kind of peculiar, but not unusual with the RBB or the Ventilators.

Come on Wendell, “John Josef Sauer” isn’t the focus, he’s just like the bearded lady in the annex to a three ring circus. Everyone knows it’s a fake but one doesn’t dare pull on that beard in fear of a personality meltdown. (Isn’t that true, Marvin?) Mind you as many as he has, one less wouldn’t make that much difference. Except you just never know which is the most treasured one!

Sooooooooo, what’s wrong with making up a list of parts required, send it to Nürnberg and get the parts? Works for others, don’t see why it shouldn’t work for you!

Hey, I’m still on that mailing list, too! Had to order two replacement parts once (brand new item broken due to insufficient packaging design), one was correct, the other one wasn’t. What’s that? Smack on 500?

Anyway after reading “the missive again”, this is the part I like best

In short, better floor plan, working air conditioning and a non-leaking roof.
What that conjures up!

better floor plan = got lost on the way to the washroom. (That’s a disaster)

working air conditioning = it must have been hot and heavy for a while, perhaps now the “cool mood” will prevail. (or they get to chill out for a while)

non-leaking roof = considering that it never rains in Southern California, I almost get the impression someone rained on LGBoA’s parade. (One more explanation on the change of name).

  Those are just my impressions, you all know about my quirky sense of humour or lack of same when one is on the receiving end.

Well, it does rain there and it does get pretty chilly…

Thought I’d add my 2 sense worth…

...... "the Slivergate News" (is that one in their eyes?)

Two things strike me about this announcement:-
1 The bit about “small quantities” of stock produced in Hungary and China. That’s actionable in my opinion particularly in the light of the freely available production schedule for 2008. Producing enough product for the european market isn’t “small” by any means, if we are to believe the threads about percentages of NA sales vs total sales.
2 The bit about having “some desireable items in stock”. I had to laugh at this one. Surely after such a long period of time since the last “delivery” surely all the desireable stuff would have sold out already? It would be interesting to be Silvergate’s auditor next year when they have to consider whether any provisions are required for slow moving stock. The prices they are charging are quite high too, though this is merely catching up with the exchange rate imbalance between the euro and dollar.
However, in spite of all the shenanigans, after seeing some of the latest sterling and euro pricings for track etc, it appears my LGB collection has increased in value. A shop I visited apparently sold an ex-demo 2-10-2 HSB locomotive (sound+MTS) for £1,395 - I bought mine for £1,200 16 months ago. Track appears to have gone up by 50% in the UK and again, since I have around 100m purchased at £1 per 10cm, I just “gained” around £500. Sterling is weak against the euro though and this will adjust back over time.
Les

ur right HJ…you first!

Cale, no problem; it was so nicely disguised even the Ventilators missed it.
