Large Scale Central

Sierra, end of the line

Got back a couple of hours ago from our annual week’s long back-roads adventure, and had an e-mail from Soundtraxx.

Effective immediately, Sierra is dead, as in pulled the plug.

They SAY if you have a “confirmed order”, it will be filled, however, they lost my order, se-sent it a month ago, and even with follow-up attempts to confirm, the what-has-become-normal silence is what I got.

Placed a call a bit ago, they sent me to “voice mail” to leave a message, which, if all holds true, means I will not get a call back.

I had already changed my GR ad to eliminate Sierra.

I could tell you it pissed me off, but I won’t.

Well, that sucks.

What are they planning to replace it with?

Tsunami.
DCC-based.

Didn’t you know, EVERYBODY wants DCC?

NOW is the time for long-time Sierra customers to contact Sierra (1-970-259-0690) and voice their concerns.

Is that like an e-mail campaign??

Oh yeah. DCC is SOOOO good. This is just wrong.

Just looked at their web site. I didn’t see any Tsunami items for Large Scale. Did I miss something?

Probably, I’m electronically challenged.

While the Tsunami range was being developed, supplies of Sierra sound cards were non-existent. Let us hope that their ‘largest’ customer (Stan and the boys in Philly) purchase enough product to make it a feasible decision to phase out the Sierra range. But then, who really cares about the success of purely DCC-related products. Oh, the Tsunami will probably be compatible with analogue DC, but you will most likely get the choice of simple chuff or diesel sound and choice of one whistle or horn. The future certainly looks good for those who like ‘choice’. You will have the choice of any colour as long as it is black. Worked for Henry Ford.

Specifically, no. Especially since I listed a PHONE NUMBER, but maybe you missed that.

I can’t say much about it yet, but there is something pretty interesting being developed for battery R/C and DCC.
A simple plug and socket installation for RCS/EVO.
The only wiring connection needed will be for the speaker.

Hopefully it won’t be all that long before proto pcb’s are ready.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be an effective Sierra alternative for battery R/C at least.

You do seem to have issues with a lot of different manufacturers- perhaps it's time to take a look inward.

I have issues with lots of manufacturers…and people.
If I had followed yours and Jack’s lead, I would have sent out a piss-poor translation to a select group, with an e-mail address of where to send it to allow various and sundry to “spam” the recipients.

But, I don’t do business that way.

I have issues with folks, but there is a reason.

Still got those e-mails.

That bites. I had planned to go with Sierra when I could afford to add sound to my locos.

What’s left? Phoenix? I can’t find out much about that one due to their sucky website.

Issues indeed.

That is a bit rich coming from a person who has so many issues, that he has to have multiple identities to conceal the truth.
Marvin, if you looked inwards would there be anything to see?
Or would you get so confused at seeing the multiple, choices on offer in one “brain”, you would simply go back to spouting sciolistic drivel you have come out with up until now?

So nothing for me than Dave ?

Maybe.
I got the last dismal units ever coming.
Stand by.

Okey Dokey !

Well if Sierra doesn’t want our business, maybe (hopefully) Tony does. We’re waiting Tony.

Barry - BBT

Hi Barry.

I’m waiting too.
It isn’t me that will be producing it.
I am merely helping with installation (as in plug and socket) specs to make it truly Plug’n’Play.
Well, it will be PnP with RCS at least.
