Or leave the doors open, and break the windows. Then its just a bunch of abandoned shacks.
Just kidding.

In the old days of the British Army of the Raj in India they had these “outhouses”.
Each one had a flap at the rear and the Indian “soil” collector would come along with his cart, lift the flap and shout “Goolies Sahib”…withdraw the bucket…empty it and replace it…and then move on to the next in line…
But I digress.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
Don’t forget the company store.

The Navy Hospital Beaufort, SC, (NHBFT) being out in the wilderness of the Low Country between Beaufort and Port Royal. SC, near Parris Island, long before the Low Country became the playground of the rich and infamous, necessarily had to have its own solid waste treatment plant.
Now, Sailors being the inventive sort that we are, were not wont to let this valuable resource go to waste, if you will excuse a pun. Each year, in the spring, the solid effluent was removed to a place where it could be sterilized by the sun (the less you know about this process, the better, probably). At the appropriate time, when the bacteria count reached a safe??? level, it was mixed with other compost from trees that had fallen and been ground up or otherwise mulched after last fall’s hurricane. This combination was then introduced to earth worms, of which there was a plethora, for further processing, until finally, the next spring, the inhabitants of the Navy Housing at NHBFT had the world’s best plant food, worm castings, as well as nice, plump worms for fishing the local estuaries and rivers. From human poop to worm poop, it just doesn’t get any better, and you can’t make this s#!+ up.
This system worked well over the many decades that the hospital and its predecessors existed, until the early 1970’s when the EPA and OSHA were created.
