While looking for my triple dome tanker pictures I came across these pics from the Roving Rooster Award. Looking up the old thread I found it was derelict with a lot of broken links. I am bringing this back to the top with the story of how the rooster got his green foot.
It was a dark and stormy night… No wait it wasn’t. In fact it was a beautiful summer day. July 4th in fact.
Rumors ran wild that a real celebrity was coming to the Cibola Independence Day Celebration.
Turned out that the champ was not the person in question. Instead the Rotary club had sent a free ticket for the birdbrain.

Imagine the disappointment when this mother-clucker arrived.

While not thrilled, the townsfolk wanted to show him some southern hospitality, and took him for a tour of the back shop. Where he promptly dumped over a bucket of paint and then walked through the puddle leaving tracks everywhere.

Next he got his picture made with the Cibola CEO. You notice that he is making the same stupid face that he does in every picture.
Afterwards he invited himself to the picnic where he gorged on deviled eggs and chicken salad. GACK, what an awful disgusting beast!!! Children screamed, women fainted and grown men struggled to keep their lunch down. The display of glutinous cannibalism was to much and the bird was quickly run out of town under threat of being tarred and feathered… with his own feathers.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
My uncle raised fighting cocks, and they had about 100 chickens total on their property, as a 6 year old kid I was horrified one day when my and took some boiled eggs out and fed them to the checked that were not scared of her!!! Little did they know, the birdbrains
I thought I was rid of this fowl bird. He lived on my railroad for a long time appearing in the background of numerous pictures posted here that went unnoticed for years.
I finally shipped him off to Hawaii when we began tearing up the railroad.
Hawaii got tired of him and shipped him to John Bouck who just tossed him in in a box of RailPro modules I’m reprogramming for him.
I guess y’all can look forward to some shots of him hanging around the 1:1 East Broad Top. This is the EBT Goes to War weekend. Perhaps I can convince the Civil War reenactors to fire him out of one of their cannons back toward Mechanicsburg!
I remember that. That’s when he booted Fr. Fred off the trestle!
Send him to me, Jon. Ill bring him to the ARS event next month to terrorize the trains all weekend!
Sure thing! PM Me your address
The Roving Rooster was an uninvited guest on the Rockhill Division of the C.V.S.Ry this weekend. Since the EBT was having their EBT Goes To War event, I decided to offer some hospitality and show him around the place.
This morning I found him hanging out by the window on my indoor railroad as the first train of the day headed North…
From there we moved to the deck for coffee while train 1 returned and train 2 left…
The rooster found a nice perch in the back yard just as train 2 returned…
We then wandered over to the railroad’s Parade Grounds where the Civil War Reenactors were set up. He was especially interested in the embalming tent…
I convinced him to check out the replica Civil Way cannon…
I told him there was some chicken feed down in the breech…
He was bit surprised when the wadding went in…
FIRE IN THE HOLE!!!
I was hoping, with the gunpowder assist, the Rooster could actually fly to Massachusetts on his own. No such luck. I found him hanging around the track 1 switch as the next train passed…
I guess he’ll just have to travel by the US Post. Commin’ at ya John!
Did they actually fire the cannon at the train with people on the open car?? Gun safety rules violated…
From that angle it looks like they are firing toward the train, but actually parallel to the track. It is loud a.f. from our deck. I tried crossing the tracks near that tree earlier in the day and got yelled at to go back because the gun was live.
The Roving Rooster has arrived at the Leeds Hill Railroad! However, I don’t think he liked his trip. Shortly after arriving, it seems he tried to steal the hat of The Businessman, who was welcoming him.
More to come on his activities soon!
Hey all! Sorry to keep you waiting to hear about the Rooster’s activities on the LHRR. But, he and I have a reason for this: He’s been busy visiting other railroads!
With all the hype around this “Big Boy” thing, he wanted to see what the fuss was all about. So…
He also investigated another steamer…
