I heard a rumor they were getting out of trains. I called them today and they confirmed it was true. This is why their inventory was low. They are just getting rid of what they have and thats it. Very bad news.
That is really bad news. I know that the economy has caused a lot of suffering for many retailers but Ridge Road is one of the largest. Regards, Dennis.
Shawn did they say G-scale or all scales?
This is bad news
Ridge Road Station is one of my favorite dealers.

Another one bites the dust! Sad news indeed, but with all the various market forces pushing prices up, and those increased prices driving sales down. I’m sadly not too surprised by this, living thru San Val’s closing. I miss them.
See, and then when the big guyz whoever dey end up bein, get rid of all the little guyz, den we have a monopoly, and dey can set whatever price dey want and we gots to pay it!! Sweet deal for the last ones standing eh??? No surprises here, RRS didn’t get enough of the pie, now they are out of the runnin so to speak! Easey Peasey lesson in carponomics, and or barracudanomincs !! Hah LOL Regal
Oh and by the way San Val is alive and well just livin on “Evil Bay” now. No overhead, like he had before with a brick and mortar!!

Me too,
Randy sounds like all scales. I think they are just staying with the toys .
Im glad I learning to build things from scratch. For the most part anything I want I will build. A lot cheaper that way.
That’s too bad, always thought their pricing was good. Maybe they will go the way that Al kramer and The Favorite Spot have went. Who knows???
Really sorry to hear that. I placed 3 orders with them over the last 6 weeks because their pricing was really good : Bachman metal wheel sets, some Aristo frt cars (esp covered hoppers) and some Aristo manual switches were priced really low. I was in HO for over 40 years and at one time there were 11 hobby (trains) shops in my general area, only 2 remain today. I hope the closing of RRS is not the start of another decline in hobby suppliers.
That sucks. I only started doing business with them within the past year or so, but planned to do more. They were very good people to deal with, and had a good selection of stuff.
Jerry Hansen said:Yeah I know, but I miss being able to go into the place, talk to the guys, look at things & get a feel for them. Hans is too far away most days I have free, and the other local shops simply dont have alot of anything (if anything) in LS.

Just read on MLS, a few people have called RRS, they are not “getting out of trains”, they are “going out of business”
Geez that REALLY sucks
That’s a real shame. I’ve used them a lot over the past few years and they had become one of my favorites.
Can anyone recommend a replacement?
Bruce… I do a lot with RLD Hobbies… Robby’s good people to work with… and his website is mostly up to date…
I agree with Andy.
I’ve only ordered once from Robbie at RLD.
He didn’t have what I wanted in stock, but offered to substitute a more expensive product at the same price.
RLD will get my business in the future.
Ralph
I also heard that the owner past away about a year ago and that he started the store after retirment. Wonder if that has anything to do with closing shop.
RLD will be place to shop for now on as well as wholsale as my last resort.
I can only speak well about Robbie at RLD Hobbies in Illinois. Apart from Aristo-Craft at Irvington he is the only dealer in the States that I have dealt with.
He has very good prices and excellent service. One of my transactions, called for two identical items but had differing prices (old stock and newer stock). They were supplied at the lower of the two prices. A loco (FA-1) I purchased was $60 less than another Illinois dealer. That FA sure looks good on my RR.
He still has some great offers but it is only the recent shipping hike and taxation hikes in the UK that have prevented me from further purchases. But, you know what large scale railroaders are - we are often weak willed when it comes to new locos or cars.
