Replacing walk bridge

Just an update on replacing old 25 year. old bridge to a taller bridge so our R/C Tug and Badge can get under it. We need at least 2 & 1/2 ft. or more clearance.

We are going to try to get the bridge in next Tuesday with some more guys… The bridge is somewhere around 300 lbs or more so may have to make a home made “U” frame to walk it over the water… Not sure yet. Maybe able to slide it on the two by six’s if enough of them.

Also, found out that we are going to have to raise our storage building Elect. Wires. So ended up make a old time telegraph pole to raise the wire up with. Made it adjustable to raise and lower in its base. Still got to get the glass insulator on yet.

Here are some photo of what we are doing.

This is the old bridge that is being replaced due to dry rot.

This is the area to cross.

This where Bridge has to be raised 6 inches to match the walk way.

Getting ready for staining and sealer.

Ready with raised blocks for adj. to walkway.

Telegraph pole adj. base.

Telegraph pole waiting to get the glass insulator on.

These type of poles in some old town would have a hanger on the side of the pole for a street lantern.

We added a outlet on the flood light post for the under bridge lights that is installed now…

Noel,

Good luck on the project. Be sure to get plenty of help!

Tks Joe, How’s your layout out coming along down there.? Any photos?

You have seen some of the stuff we built here… Take a crane to move them. lol

…winking…

Your pike is amazing. Mine is only 12x28 and still sparse, but I am running trains, and having fun!

Good looking bridge Noel !

Nice job Noel. Love the tug. Regards,Ron.

Love the greenery! Still looking drab up here in the frozen north!

Wow, Noel- quite a project. Your yard looks amazing.

-Kevin.

Noel, not that i want to criticize…

… but are you sure, that this bridge is on scale??

Tk’s. guys for the comments. That’s what it all about is the show and tell. We love see others post on what they have done and get more ideas on how to mess up our yard… lol.

I seen on another post of a Amtrack train in this guys backyard that should let us give it a trail test run to see it works ok… Post was from some kind of a plucked chicken, I think. lol

Joe Z. Well that how I started out with my layout. I just laid my rails on the back yard lawn around a tree. Found out it was hard to mower around it. lol Anyway you are running trains, that great.

Korm… Ya… Kind a went way out of scale… Fact probable break the bath room scales.

oops sorry…

We even had to re-do the steps and make them more and closer in size due to Jane had both knee’s replacements.

So now she can make it up and cross over the bridge to the storage build.

My wife is an artist who works in many different medias. The “round things” are sculptures representing Japanese warrior shields. The fence is a screen hand made by me and designed by her. There are many other sculptures around /in our house, along with many paintings and sketches.

Oh. When you said bridge, you meant “BRIDGE!”

Ya…kind out of scale… laf… Swing by Tom next Tuesday here in Calif. If not doing anything, and have fun with us to fig. out how to get it moved in place. We have to go around large Pine trees and up and over a path boarder, then try not to get wet. That part of the pond is ok, its under 3 foot there.

We get that one in place and then maybe start building a 28 foot bridge to the island on the back pond. Guess that got to be a arched signal span to reach the small pier.

That one got to be high enough for our row boat to go under it with us in it. laf.

Here you go Noel…

You know I’ve got at least a half dozen projects unfinished that need one of those.
